Protecting Your Money Online
One of the single most important pursuits for any British family is creating sufficient wealth to be able to take care of our families in the best possible ways. But wealth creation isn’t just a tool for ensuring we provide for our families as robustly and abundantly as possible, it’s also so that we can offer our children the best available experiences too. Holidays abroad, a nice home, access to tutors and university education overseas all sound very nice indeed, but they don’t come cheap.
This means that more of us are turning to create wealth in non-traditional ways are seeking ways in opportunities like online share and stock trading, cryptocurrency trading, foreign exchange trading and more.
While many would-be traders have enjoyed a lot of success, more yet have fallen victim to online scammers, costing us over £1 Billion this year alone – and that was only up to June, we can expect that figure to be significantly higher than that by the end of the year.
So what are the most common scams and where can you seek out help if this happens to you? We’re going to look at a couple of scenarios in today’s post, and you may be surprised to know that if it happens to you, there is help. Wealth Recovery Solicitors can be very useful in helping you understand your options, but as always, prevention is better than cure, so if it sounds too good to be true – it probably is.
FIRST, DON’T BE FOOLED – KNOW YOUR STUFF
A nice looking website with fancy graphics and seemingly a lot of technical jargon splattered all over the place, doth not a company of repute make. Hackers and scammers are counting on the fact that users are likely not going to be online security experts and they work on building sites that have all the right looking symbols and verifications but in reality offer no protection at all and are just the ‘storefronts’ for the scammers’ dodgy operations.
So before you hand over your hard-earned money, do some research. Check for reviews online and check with reputable verification firms. Speak to your financial advisor and chat with friends too.
Sites that want payment with PayPal are not necessarily dodgy, but if that’s the only payment method they have, think again. Reputable sites will accept a multitude of payments from credit to debit cards, bank transfers and more, and if the site you’re on wants you to use a money transfer service like Western Union or Moneygram – buyer beware.
We’re all looking at ways to supplement our income to live our lives a little better, so when you’re looking at ways to earn money at home, if you’re not particularly financially gifted, maybe try something else before going into the unknown world of online trading.
With that being said, legitimate online trading sites will usually offer you a free training period and ongoing advice and support, don’t be pressured into handing over thousands of pounds when a representative calls you after you’re registered. First, discuss all of your concerns with them and find out what support and training they offer.
A legitimate company will only be too happy to take the time to speak with you, and help you along your way to safe, secure and hopefully – lucrative online trading.
