Mummy, you be the Beast and I’ll be Beauty!
Children have the best imaginations ever.
The games that they make up, the ways that they keep themselves entertained and watching them play can be so enchanting.
Our twins have very good imaginations. They’re always making up games to play with one another and with mummy and daddy too!
M’s favourite game at the moment is to act out Beauty and the Beast with me.
She always plays the role of Belle, naturally because she is after all a beautiful princess just like Belle and I always have to play the role of the Beast!
She’ll come running to me saying over and over again, “Mummy, you be the Beast and I’ll be Belle!”
I love her enthusiasm for it!
Both of our girls love Beauty and the Beast, much to my enjoyment as it also happens to be my favourite Disney film of all time.
R knows all of the words to most of the songs and M truly gets carried away with the whole fantasy of Belle taking her father’s place in the Beast’s castle and then acting out the story.
R usually plays the role of Gaston and she does it so well. She’s fierce and feisty just like him!
M will run gracefully to the aid of ‘her father’ and then take his place.
I then have to step up and in my best Beast voice say “What are you doing in my castle?”
Her absolute favourite scene though is when the Beast has fallen after Gaston has hurt him and Belle runs to the Beast falling at his side. She weeps and tells the Beast that she loves him.
M plays this part out particularly well. I can hear the sadness and empathy in her voice. Her face says it all and then I have to pretend to rise into the air as I transform back into a Prince.
M will then run to me, jump in the air and give me the best, tightest hug ever whilst declaring her love for the Beast!
We’ll then dance around the room pretending that we’re in the ballroom!
I think drama classes might well be calling her soon!
It’s so much fun watching them play, learn, act out these scenes and use their imaginations in such creative ways.

How cute is this! Eva seems to love playing doctors and nurses at the moment. And of course many a time we have acted out scenes from frozen lol x

Aww, this is so cute! The toddler is obsessed with dancing at the moment, and discovered Strictly at the weekend, so that's all she's asking for now! iPlayer is a wonderful thing! #BestAndWorst

Aw, I can't wait for my little man to be old enough to have favourites and get attached to different movies and play them out, so awesome. I'm trying to force him to love The Lion King but no luk so far! #bestandworst

Mine do have great imaginations..megs who is 3 enjoys pretending to be a kitten and recently will purr more than speaking (its pretty annoying especially when you trip over her crawling around). They both line their teddies up and perform to them, pretending they are doing shows x #bestandworst

My 3 yo constantly asks me to 'be evil'… I have to put on a scary face and voice and pretend to be the evil queen / king / monster etc while she obviously, plays the beautiful princess. She declined my offer to swap roles sadly, although I did have to draw the line when she asked me to pretend to kill everybody 😐 (WTF?!). x MMT #bestandworst

Ahh Beauty and the Beast is one of my all time fav Disney films too 🙂 My son likes to act out being a crocodile and trying to bite our feet lol, the imagination of children amazes me. Thanks for linking up to the #bestandworst 🙂 x

I remember the days my Samantha liked to play dress up! She loved all those Disney shows. One time, I was a "big Sister" part of the Big Sister/Big Brother foundation and someone gave the organization tickets to the live performance of Beauty and The Beast. I didn't expect much, but MAN, was it incredible! They used smoke machines to make it look like Gaston was on a foggy swamp. The Candle and Teacup had amazing costumes. it was phenomenal. Too bad I couldn't afford to take my own kids later. The OC (Orange County) performing Arts is very expensive.
We did see Disney on Ice and they had all of those characters and other princesses. Might be something you want to check into with your kiddos.

Shoot, It looks like my original response didn't take. (so aggravating) visiting from #bestandworst
We saw Beauty and the Beast at the Orange County Performing arts. It was cleverly done, using smoke machines to create a foggy swamp for Gaston to float on, and The Candle and teacup had elaborate costumes. They were really cool! We also saw Disney on Ice, where they had all the princesses and the beast. My daughter LOVED it. Might be something you want to look into with your girls?
