Making Crafty Pictures
Last week was a pretty busy week. I felt like all I’d done was drag the girls around various shops and play groups!
On Wednesday morning I took them out on their scooters for a walk, but neither of them were very interested and just wanted to go home. After about 10 minutes I caved in and took them back home where they sat in front of the TV watching a DVD. It was actually quite nice to just sit down and relax with them both, but I always feel like I should be doing something with them!
Wednesday afternoon I then took them to playgroup which they really enjoyed.
On Thursday we had a friend around for a play date with her two children and on Friday I decided to just stay at home and have a chilled out day!
I didn’t want to just laze around though so I came up with a fun crafty activity for us all to do. I’ve done this before with the girls, but I thought I’d share it with you!
It’s really and all you need is a cake tin (the kind with space for 12 cakes), some paper and glue and some crafty bits such as tissue paper, pom poms, stickers etc.
I spent about 5-10 minutes putting various crafty things into each pocket of the cake tin. In some I tore off bits of tissue paper and scrunched them up into balls. In other I put sequins, pictures of various items I’d cut out of magazine, cut up pieces of yellow felt and some scrunched up tin foil.
I gave the girls a piece of paper each and some glue to make a picture.
I also found some stickers so I put those on the table too.
The girls really enjoyed using all of the various materials to make their pictures.
I gave them some colouring pencils too so that they could colour or draw on their pictures as well.
Overall, this was a fun activity to do at home!

I love the idea of using a muffin tin! It's amazing how much use you can get out of household items when playing with children. You've sparked an idea for me to use a tin to do painting with with my little one this week. She's not quite big enough for sticking, but I could definitely use different coloured paints. I'm bookmarking this page for when she's older! 😀 It looks like they had such a lovely time! It's a brilliant idea to use different textures & shapes & let them get all creative. x

I love how this is set out for them. I use to use a dips tray but the kids broke it and haven't found a cheap one since….definitely going to use our muffin tray from now on #KidsCorner 🙂

I always feel the same about Josh watching TV and we have banned our 4 year old from video games(He was getting angry and a little naughty when playing a Nintendo) Also I have told Josh that when the sun is shining the TV doesn't work lol for the moment this works x x x

This is great – thank you think we will be doing this too :). Normally everything goes everywhere and gets mixed up so using the cake tray will be much better and help my control freakness!! #KidsCorner

Fab idea to keep all the bits visable for them. Also picked up on your comment about always feeling like you have to be doing something with them. I always feel like this. Sometimes the best memories are from just being together at home. Until they're driving you mad 😉

So much fun and, like everyone else, I like your clever use of the muffin tin to store those treasures! My girls would have loved this activity when they were younger (I always took great delight in winding hubby up with lots of glitter and sparkle usage!!).
