Looking for Love over the age of 50
Divorce over the age of 50 is on the rise. That’s according to an article by The New York Times. Therefore it’s no wonder that more and more dating sites are popping up over the internet.
Gone are the days of traditional courtship, where you were introduced to your friends friend in the hope of finding of love. What would normally pursue, however hasn’t changed. Maybe some dinner, a dance, perhaps a visit to the cinema or even a local place of interest.
The way in which we date hasn’t changed much over the years, but the way in which we meet new people, connect with others and communicate has certainly changed a lot.
Some may say this change is for the worse, but I disagree. I think online dating is a great way for people to connect and find love again.

According to the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, 15.4 percent of over 50s were divorced and another 2.1 percent were separated in 2011. I imagine that if you’ve been married to someone for a long time, and then suddenly find yourself divorced, you may feel a little out of sorts when it comes to dating again.
Being a little older, perhaps a little set in your ways and used to having things a certain way can also hinder your chances of finding love again. It can be scary to go out, mingle with new people, in new environments that you haven’t stepped in before, but that’s why I think online dating is great.
You can meet people from the comfort of your home with websites that are aimed at people just like you, such as http://www.maturitydating.co.uk/ or http://www.over60datingsite.co.uk/.
You can chat to people over a number of weeks and get to know them whilst sitting in your pyjamas, glass of vino in hand, with your favourite soaps playing on the TV in the background!
When you find someone you’d like to connect with, you can arrange to meet them in a safe, public place, and see how it pans out.
I think a few years ago there was a stigma attached to the idea of online dating, but I no longer think that’s an issue. Everyone’s doing it online now so it’s fast becoming the norm!
