I survived boot camp!

January 30, 2017

This week I won a months free membership to a local boot camp.

I’ve never been to a boot camp before now, but having had a personal trainer for a while and having witnessed circuits in the gym I had a pretty good idea about what to expect.

I already do spin class twice a week, so I know that my cardio fitness is pretty good, but I’d really like to improve my overall strength, as well as my core strength. I’d also love to tone up and lose the ‘Mummy tummy’. I’m not sure I can still call it that when my girls are almost five years old! I guess it’s more of a food baby!

Anyway tonight at 8pm I found myself in a community centre just a five minute drive away from my home.

Thankfully I saw a familiar face there and that definitely put me at ease!

The boot camp consisted of a number of different ‘stations’ and we had to spend two minutes on each one, alternating activities with our partners.

We did burpees, squats and lunges, used kettle bells, slam balls and ran. We did planks, sit ups and push ups and I absolutely loved it!

After the ‘two minute’ round we moved into a round of 30 seconds at each station.

I feel a bit achy at the moment, but I always see that as a sign of a good workout! I have spin class tomorrow and again on Thursday.

I’m slowly increasing the amount of exercise I do. With two 45 minute spin classes a week and one of hour of boot camp that brings me up to two and a half hours of exercise a week.

I never thought I’d enjoy spin class and boot camp, but I really do! I’d like to get back into my running as well, but I don’t want to overdo it just yet!
