Happy Birthday! Our twins are 1 today!

February 28, 2013

In celebration of our beautiful twin girls first birthday today, I have written them a poem. I hope you enjoy!

On The Day You Were Born

We were up early that morn
On the day you were born

A day to remember and treasure forever

Our bags were packed so off we went
To the hospital we drove

We waited and waited
And waited some more
Only to be told
No beds for the babies

Oh no we exclaimed!
For today is the day our babies will be born

Tomorrows a leap year day
A birthday every four years
Simply won’t do!

For our babies are small
And our babies are precious
A birthday a year is what they deserve!

We’ll make some calls
Coz she’s climbing the walls!
Today is the day their babies will be born!

If you drive and you drive
And you drive some more
We’ll make sure your babies arrive today

So we drove and we drove
And we drove some more
A hospital appeared
We’d never been before

Poked, prodded, strapped and injected
A baby or two kicked from inside
Hurry up they thought
We can’t wait to me meet you!

Looking all pretty
Dressed in a gown
We nervously walked down a corridor

My legs were shaking
My eyes welled up
For today is the day our babies will be born

Hand in hand
Mummy and Daddy eagerly awaited

A tug and a pull
And a baby was born
2.54pm and 4lb3
She’s definitely a Ruby
Daddy did say

Another tug, another pull
Another baby entered the world
2.56pm and 2lb11
Our fun size Maisie entered the world

A quick kiss each from Mummy and Daddy
You were whisked away so quick

So beautiful and small
So wonderful and precious
Our miracle babies were born

We cried and we cried
And we cried some more
Happy tears these were you see
For today is the day our babies were born

One year ago today
It’s gone so quick

Today you are 1
My how you’ve grown!

We love you forever
And remember that day
For a year ago today was the day you were born
