Improvise a breakfast bar by clearing a surface and setting up a couple of bar stools at it. It’s a great modern touch to add to a kitchen that feels like it has stagnated. It’s also easier to access if you’re rushed for time in a morning and want breakfast, and ensures there’s always one spare surface around. Change the lighting around
Use softer bulbs if the lighting in your kitchen makes the place look garish or just simply hurt your eyes. Similarly, getting a different kind of lampshade works wonders for how the light fills the room, and can be a wonderful design choice. Having a shade that looks like flowing crystals or a waterfall is a great way to include an element of art in your kitchen. You can even stick portable lights onto the bottom of overhead cabinets to add a blue hue to the space, or to light it up gently later in the evening.
Add a pop of colour
A lot of kitchens are kept in the pale style of white, pale browns and blues, and greys. Unless you like it this way because it can seem quite sleek, this can be quite boring overall. Adding something vibrant to fill the space is sometimes necessary. Use something bright like a fruit bowl or flower vase to add a friendlier tone to a neutral kitchen. Lemons and limes are good for this purpose.

A good way to fill space that has an aesthetic element to it is to use a rug on your kitchen floor. We think of tiles as smooth and cold, so add in a warming item to make your space a little more unusual.
Stick art everywhere
If your kids have just drawn another smiley sun, stick it on all the surfaces you have available as well as the fridge. It’s a wonderful down to earth touch that lets your kids know how much you love what they create as well as personalising a simple cupboard door. Identify what pan is in which cupboard simply by looking at which picture is where.
