Bluestone Wales: Pre-Holiday Post!

We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to stay at Bluestone Wales in January for four days. 


As a family of four Bluestone Wales appears to have a lot to offer us. Our twins will be almost three years old so we’re hoping to find plenty of activities to keep them occupied during our stay!


This is the first of two posts as I thought that I would write a pre-holiday post and then another post on our return to tell you all about our experiences!


So in this post I thought I would tell you a little about Bluestone Wales and what they have to offer, plus some of the extras you can pre-book. 


Accommodation




We’re staying in the Ramsey Lodge which has two bedrooms and can sleep up to four people. 


To take advantage of the views, the living space is upstairs and the bedrooms are downstairs. Bluestone call it ‘upside down living’. 


According to the website the Ramsey Lodge has a double and twin bedroom on the ground floor, with en-suite bathrooms, upstairs you’ll find an open plan living area, fully fitted kitchen and of course, it’s crammed with the modern amenities you can expect at Bluestone.


From looking at their website it looks pretty spectacular!
Accommodation Extras


One of the great things I’ve learnt about Bluestone is that you can manage your booking online and that means you can choose from a range of extras. 


Accommodations extras consist of:

  • Executive. £60.00. This option allows you to choose your location area, plus you’ll also get an early check-in from 1pm (instead of 4pm).
  • Privilege. £100.00. As well as being able to choose your location and having early check in from 1pm, the privilege option also means you get free entry to The Well Spa on a day of your choice (subject to availablility). You’ll also get a half bottle of wine per adult.
  • Cot hire and high chair higher. £12.50. All Bluestone lodges and cottages already have one travel cot in them, along with a high chair, but if you need more, you can book an extra travel cot that will be in your lodge when you arrive.
  • Basic Maid Service. £20.00. This includes: made beds, general tidy up, clean kitchens and bathrooms, vacuum and mop, take rubbish out, provide fresh contents from starter pack
  • Full Maid Service. £32.50. Includes everything in the basic made service plus full linen and towel change
Activities

Once you’ve sorted your accommodation out, you may want to take a look at Bluestones Activity Guide to see if anything takes your fancy. 



For us the Mini Ranges activities sound perfect. Suitable for children from birth to three this includes creche sessions, sensory sessions, messy play and beast hunts! 


If you’re children are older than ours then there is also the Junior Rangers which is suitable for four to seven year olds and the Celtic Rangers which is suitable for eight to twelve year olds. 

If you’re the kind of person who likes a bit of adrenaline and adventure then the Steep Ravine Forest will be right up your street! From high ropes to sky wires, assault course and nature trails plus more you should find something you’ll enjoy!

In the Adventure Centre you’ll find an NRG room, mini golf, ball pool, lego, the tower soft play and the circus zone. 

When you get hungry the Wildlife Cafe is just upstairs so you won’t have far to go!

If all of that isn’t enough for you then there’s the Blue Lagoon Water Park which boasts slip slides, winding flumes and whipping waves!

Relaxation




If you’re after a bit of pampering then the Well Spa Retreat is bound to have something for you! From massages to chocolate body wraps or just a manicure – it all sounds wonderful!

Food


Bluestone believe in supporting local businesses wherever possible and as such their menu features locally-sourced produce in every dish they serve.

There’s plenty of places to chose from when deciding where to eat, but if you don’t fancy eating out you can order a takeaway and have it delivered straight to your door!

Before your visit you can arrange to have a food hamper delivered to your door for £48. This includes cereal, eggs, pepsi, fruit, crisps and more. 

You can even order a grocery shop to your door!

Getting Around



Bluestone is a fairly big resort so there are a few options available when it comes to getting around. 

For those with young children you may want to consider hiring a buggy for the duration of your stay. 

If you want to explore the country side then you can hire a bike. Bluestone even offer ‘tag alongs’ which can be attached to the back of most bikes for younger children.

Then there’s the landtrain which is a complimenatary service which can take you anywhere across the resort. There are dedicated bus stops however if you see the train coming you can just flag it down!

Things to bring with you

Although Bluestone try to cater to most of your needs, you may want to consider bringing along some extras. 

Linen and towels are provided in your accomodation, but any additional linen items you may need will be provided at a supplemental charge.

One toilet roll per accommodation is provided, but more can be purchased from Newton Stores in the Village.

The following items are not provided.

  • Tea towels
  • Cot linen
  • Hair dryer*
  • Iron
  • Torch 


*A limited number of hair dryers can be loaned from Village Central for a £10 cash deposit, refunded on return of the hairdryer.

You may also want to consider bringing:

  • Bath mat
  • Bed Linen
  • Towels – you can buy a towel for £4
  • Cots and high chairs
  • Wellies and walking boots as well as suitable clothing if you want to take part in any of the activities – also consider the time of year and dress accordingly
  • Torch
  • Bicycles – The resort is car free, but Bluestone encourage the use of bicycles to help you get around. You’ll need to bring your own helmet as Bluestone don’t hire or sell these
  • Driving licence – in case you decide that you want to hire a buggy
  • Backpack – If you bring a bike or decide to hire one, a backpack can prove very useful
Summary

W’re all looking forward to our stay at Bluestone and we really can’t wait to see what they have to offer!

    I went to Bluestone in November 2013 and absolutly loved it! I took my mum and then 9 month old daughter and there is so much to do for everyone.
    We are also going back this month but it will be my partner, daughter and I this time. I can't wait to be back and having fun.
