Beauty and the Beast at the Everyman Theatre, Cardiff
Beauty and the Beast is my favourite Disney film.
I used to watch it over and over and over again when I was younger. Belle was so headstrong, independent and that gold dress was beautiful! I wanted to be Belle!
Now that I’m an adult, Beauty and the Beast still brings me back to those fond memories of watching the film when I was a little girl. I’ll never tire of watching it with my girls.
There’s something very magical about Disney films, but Beauty and the Beast is my number one Disney film!
When I heard that the Everyman Theatre was coming to Cardiff with a production of Beauty and the Beast I knew I had to get tickets for us all to go!
It’s an open-air theatre and despite it being heavy rain, the cast still went ahead with the show and put on a fun, energetic and magical performance.
Charlotte Tonge, who played the character of Belle was mesmerising. Her voice was beautiful and she really brought the character of Belle to life. Our three year old twins really thought she was Belle and they couldn’t keep their eyes off her!
The Beast, played by Ben Joseph Smith, was truly magnificent! The way he portrayed the Beast’s feelings throughout the show was captivating. He certainly had the beasts roar mastered to a fine art and thankfully the costume wasn’t too scary for children!
I can’t write this post without mentioning Kerry Dwyer who played Lumiere – the candlestick. She was outstandingly brilliant! She really put her all into the performance and you could tell that she really enjoyed it! She was funny, energetic and a great candlestick!
The show was full of life. It was fast-paced and flowed well. At just over an hour in length it was just right for children.
The singing and dancing was enchanting and the story was true to the Disney film from beginning to end.
As mentioned above it was raining heavily, but it didn’t put any of the cast off. They all gave a top notch performance.
I liked that they came up into the audience on occasion, although at times it was hard to see what was happening if they were right down by the front row.
Ross Broad, who played Gaston genuinely sounded like Gaston and he played the part well, as did his side kick, Lefou, played by Ethan Price.
Overall, a great performance and excellent value for money at just £25 for a family of four! If you live in or near Cardiff I’d definitely recommend coming to see the show. Tickets are still available and the show is on until August 1st.
I paid for our own tickets. All views and opinions are 100% my own.

Sounds like you all had a great time. The costumes look really good and are spot on to the Disney film. I think £25 for the four of you is a good deal too!
