Be A Good Neighbour This Christmas

This Christmas as you sit around a table with your family surrounded by good food and gifts galore, take a moment to remember those who are not as lucky as you and I.

Like many people I’ll be enjoying Christmas day in the comfort of my own home. If it’s snowing outside it doesn’t matter to me as I’ll be kept warm in my home.

I won’t be alone as I’ll have my husband and children with me, but what about your neighbours?

Not everyone this Christmas will be fortunate enough to have someone to share the festive period with and with recent fuel price rises this also means that more and more people, especially the older generation, are unable to afford to heat their homes.

According to Age UK, every winter, tens of thousands of older people in this country become seriously ill or even die as a result of the cold.

In addition to this many elderly people use disabled bathroom equipment and lifts such as the bellavita bath lifts for elderly and for those that don’t have a personal alarm system set up in their home, a fall whilst getting in or out of the bath can leave them in serious trouble.

Try to be vigilient this year and just keep an eye out for your neighbours. Why not pop around for a quick chat or cup of tea to make sure all is ok or even better why not invite them around for the day?
