Baby proofing our home using VELCRO(R). Part 1.

Did you know it’s VELCRO(R) Month? 


Well, you do now! I love a challenge, so when I saw the opportunity to receive a hamper full of VELCRO(R) goodies, I jumped at the chance!


Our twins are almost 9 months old and are nearly crawling. I can’t begin to imagine what havoc they will cause when they start to get more mobile! 


Having said that, although they can’t quite crawl yet, that doesn’t stop them from getting into places they shouldn’t! 


From the books on the bookshelf to the kitchen cupboards, those tiny hands are mighty sneaky and strong!

How?


Using a range of VELCRO(R) products from my VELCRO(R) hamper!

Now I know that this will come in very handy! 50mm x 50mm of reusable cable wrap. Our twins love nothing more than to play on a massive duvet in our lounge. It’s great fun. They lay on their backs playing with their toys, roll onto their bellies and grab anything and everything. Most recently they have started the ‘air-bum rock’, where they are up on all fours rocking back and fourth because they haven’t quite managed to figure out how to co-ordinate their legs to crawl! It’s very funny to watch! All the time they spend on the floor, however has made them curious little monkeys! 

I have a few ideas about what I want to use these for. Nothing to do with baby proofing but more to do with giving the girls some colourful things to look at in their nursery. I have a bright, laminated sheet of paper with nursery rhymes on hanging on the girls bedroom wall….with sellotape! I also have a nice height chart poster for them. I think I’ll give these a whirl at keeping these posters on the wall as I have lost count of how many times it has fallen down! Hopefully, this will solve that problem! I have a few ideas about what to use these for. They are incredibly strong! I had some baby safety plastic corners to put on our wooden coffee table. They were supplied with little bits of tape to keep them in place but they didn’t last 5 minutes. Twin daddy and I constantly knocked them off and our twins were able to pull them off, making them a choking hazard. I will definitely see how this fares and I have high hopes! I will also try using this to keep our kitchen cupboards shut. I know you can buy baby safety products to do this, but those products can still result in a finger or two getting trapped in the door. Hopefully, this will put pay to that as it is very strong.

My favourite idea yet has to be using these wonderful bits of VELCRO(R)! Our book shelf is like a magnet to our twins! I’d love to think at their early age that they are drawn to it for it’s literary purpose but I have a feeling it has something more to do with the brightly coloured books on offer which apparently make great chew toys to our girls! I am going to stick these along the top facing edge of the book shelf and bottom facing edge and attach a sheet or such like so tiny hands can’t get at the books behind! I will use these to tidy up the cables in our home. Mainly the printer, laptop and chargers we have. More posts about this, along with some pictures coming soon!

I love taking pictures of our family. My landlady isn’t so keen on the nails in the walls to hang all of our pictures up, so I think I’ll use these to put my pictures up! More posts about this, along with some pictures coming soon!

These are fab! I hate sewing and to be honest with you, I can’t sew very well, so when I saw these in my hamper I was more than pleased. More posts about this, along with some pictures coming soon!
