Anyone else a football widow?

December 24, 2014

I often find myself sitting in a trance next to my husband in our living room. This isn’t because I’ve been hypnotised, it’s because my husband is engrossed in another game of football.

He’ll shout at the TV, jump up and down like a lunatic and fidget in his seat waiting for his team to score the next goal.

He supports Manchester United and has been to Old Trafford a number of times to see them play live. It’s fair to say he’s a devoted supporter!

Unfortunately my husband advises me that for the first time in about twenty years Manchester United failed to quality for the 2015 Champions League Final.

In my husbands words; “This is depressing stuff!”

You’d think that because his favourite team won’t be playing that would mean that he won’t be watching it. Sadly not!

He’ll still be watching it, which means I’ll be a football widow for a while again!

According to my husband the Champions League Final is the pinnacle of football in Europe. He says that it just doesn’t get any better because you have the best teams with the best players on show.

He’s very excited about this because he thinks that there is a very real likelihood that Real Madrid will be in the final. He even goes as far to say that they’ll be the team to watch. With the world’s greatest player, Cristiano Ronaldo playing for them alongside our very own local Cardiff boy, Gareth Bale!

With all this football talk that I’m undoubtedly going to have to pretend to listen to, I’m pleased to say that there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Betfair have very kindly sent me a hamper to pamper myself with whilst my husband watches the football.

The pamper set includes:

  • A delicious smelling candle from AromaWorks
  • Some biscuits, chocolate and popcorn
  • A bath bomb
  • Burts Bees lip balm
  • A hot chocolate spoon
  • Shower and body wash
  • Body lotion

So whilst hubby watches the footy, you’ll find me in the bathroom, candle lit, bath bomb fizzing away, relaxing with some chocolate!

Are you a football widow too? What do you do whilst your husband watches the football?
