This is Snuggles.
Yeah, he’s pretty cute, but man has the last month been full of drama for a bunny so young!
Snuggles joined us on the 20th of January.
One Saturday morning, my husband and I took our twin girls to Pets at Home so they could choose a pet.
I should actually say that Snuggles chose us.
As soon as our girls walked up to where the rabbits were, Snuggles came right up to them.
He was the only rabbit that didn’t run away.
In fact he was the only rabbit that came straight up to us.
It was fate!
Our girls were smitten, and so was I!
Sadly when we got Snuggles home, one of our girls said, “Mummy? What’s that lump on Snuggles?”
“I don’t know,” I said.
A quick google search of ‘rabbits’ proved to me that this lump wasn’t normal.
I’m amazed that the staff who sold us Snuggles didn’t notice. Especially as the lady who served us supposedly carried out a ‘health check’ whilst we shopped for hay and other bits for our new addition.
A trip to the in-store vets the following week revealed that it was a cyst.
A cyst that would cost £150 to remove!
Thankfully, Pets at Home covered the cost.
Tests later revealed it wasn’t a cyst. It was a salivary mucocele which apparently is common in dogs.
The vet was pretty surprised to see one in a rabbit.
Thankfully, Snuggles appears to be on the mend now.
He’s a pretty happy chappy who likes to get jiggy with his football…
He likes to eat strawberry leaves just as much as I like to film him eating them in slow motion…
It’s also fair to say that he’s settled into our lives and hearts very well indeed.
Despite his rocky start, Snuggles is doing very well, and as you can see in the picture above, he seems very thankful and happy that we took him home that day.
