Creating a pet friendly garden

Pets are such a big part of our lives. When I was a child we had many different pets at one time or another. My favourite was our pet cat, Jessie. She was a long haired black cat that I absolutely adored. I have one very fond memory her. I was desperate for her to stay in my bedroom at night time so I could cuddle her so I snuck her into my bed when I went to my room and placed her on top of my duvet. My parents didn’t know this and I daren’t not tell them as… [Read More]

Taking care of wildlife in your garden this winter

Taking care of our pets in the winter months is something that all pet owners take seriously. We have a pet rabbit called Snuggles who we absolutely adore. It’s well known that rabbits cope better in cold weather, but that doesn’t mean they won’t get cold. As such when Snuggles is in his outdoor run, I always put down extra bedding and an extra layer under his hutch cover. However, may people often forget about the wildlife in their garden. Winter can be especially harsh for wildlife such as birds and hedgehogs. We’re very lucky where we live because we… [Read More]

Thank Goodness for Pet Insurance

Two weeks ago I noticed that our much loved pet rabbit, Snuggles, appeared to have lost his appetite. Having done lots of research about rabbits when we first brought Snuggles home, I immediately knew that this was a bad thing. Rabbits are very good at hiding illnesses which means it can be quite hard to spot when they are unwell. Thankfully, I know our little Snuggles very well, and one thing I know for sure about him is that he loves his food. Every morning Snuggles has his breakfast brought to him, and this consists mainly of romaine lettuce, coriander… [Read More]

How to build a garden pond

Earlier this year my husband and I decided to get our six year old twins their first pet. Ideally we wanted a cat, but our landlord wasn’t keen on this idea, but he did suggest a goldfish perhaps or a rabbit. After much deliberation we decided on a rabbit! Our girls named him Snuggles, and he’s become a big part of our family. Since introducing a rabbit to our children, they’ve become more and more interested in animals. Initially they loved learning all about rabbits. I’d look online for random facts about them to tell our girls. For example, did… [Read More]

Boston Chicken House with Run Review

Back in January we introduced a new member to our family. A pet rabbit called Snuggles. Snuggles was around four months old when he joined us, and he’s well and truly settled into our family. Our children adore him, and I must admit so do I! When we first brought Snuggles home, we purchased a cage that was recommended to us by the pet shop. However, within a few weeks it became clear that Snuggles would quickly outgrow it. With this in mind, I did some research and purchased a rabbit hutch. The rabbit hutch is currently indoors as it’s… [Read More]

The Adventures of Snuggles. Part 1.

This is Snuggles. Yeah, he’s pretty cute, but man has the last month been full of drama for a bunny so young! Snuggles joined us on the 20th of January. One Saturday morning, my husband and I took our twin girls to Pets at Home so they could choose a pet. I should actually say that Snuggles chose us. As soon as our girls walked up to where the rabbits were, Snuggles came right up to them. He was the only rabbit that didn’t run away. In fact he was the only rabbit that came straight up to us. It… [Read More]

The girls first pet

I’ve always been an animal lover. When I was a child, my sister and I had many pets. Hamsters, rabbits, numerous cats and even ducks! Before our girls were born, my husband and I had two kittens. We called them Dragon and Fable. It’s rather strange as their names definitely suited them. Dragon was fierce and would often attack Fable, who was a soft, gentle and cuddly cat. When my husband and I found out that we were pregnant with twins, we made the decision to re-home the cats. It was heartbreaking, but having Two house cats and two babies… [Read More]
