Technology amazes me every day. It’s come such a long way over recent years and what people can make and do with it is awesome. From the functional to the wacky, technology can benefit all of our lives.

Did you know in Japan there will be a mass production of flying cars! In addition, did you know that it’s actually possible to print a 3D pizza and people say it’s tasty! (Source)

It’s also interesting to know that the likes of artificial intelligence and machine learning can actually help to improve your business.

The History of Artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence has been studied for decades and is still one of the most elusive subjects in computer science. (Source)

In true terms, the field of artificial intelligence research was founded at a workshop held on the campus of Dartmouth College during the summer of 1956. At that time, it was predicted that a machine as intelligent as a human being would exist in no more than a generation and they were given millions of dollars to make this vision come true. (Source). I still think that’s quite a scary thought!

Improving Business

So, as mentioned above, artificial intelligence and machine learning can improve your business. For example, vision inspection systems are used in the print and packaging industry to ensure defective products are recalled before being sent out to customers. Now that’s what I call a great way to use this kind of technology. Not only does it improve business, it also gives your customers greater reassurances.

Optical sorting machines can automatically root out your rogue products, which in turn makes your manufacturing more efficient and less wasteful. In long run, this means that you will never deliver a bad product again. Imagine that! Wouldn’t that be great for your business?

This type of technology will inspect, sort, grade and classify your manufactured components with ease. The machines will continually sort your products while you get on with the important manufacturing tasks. This will save you lots of time and mean that you can focus on the more important things.

Types of Optical Sorting Machines

There are a few different types of optical sorting machines so doing your research before you invest is always a good idea. Here’s a brief breakdown of some of the key features and benefits of using optical sorting machines:

  • High-Speed Adaptable Optical Sorting – Small components and parts can be inspected. Adaptable optical sorting for fasteners, rings, plastics, components, washers, nuts, munitions, moulds, screws, micro parts, rivets, medical components and custom parts.
  • Manufacture Product Excellence – Check attributes and features as speed. Optical sorting vision systems check your product integrity in real-time; everything from cracks, threads, profiles and surface finish, through to foreign material detection, roundness, character recognition, shorts, flash and burrs.
  • Next Level Optical Inspection – Detect flaws that others miss with clear, ultra high-definition images that allow IVS systems to recognise even the hardest to spot flaws. The unique glass disc provides 360-degree inspection, sensing your product at all angles.
  • Immediate Data and Reports – Eyes on your factory floor. See production trends and data as they happen. Make operational and quality decisions based on real information. Recall images of all failure parts, see instant statistical details, and drill down on the reason for faults.
