AD| Kickstart your fitness regime with the Jonple App

January 6, 2021

The start of a new year often sees the rise of people joining gyms. However, the world is a little different right now with many gyms closed. For that reason, people have been turning to other online alternatives. From live video and pre-recorded workouts to socially distanced outdoor classes when local government rules allow. There are plenty of options available.

If you’re anything like me, then you probably prefer to work out at a time that suits you. I’m currently working from home and trying to educate my children at the same time. As such, trying to pin down an exact time to log into an online class can be difficult.

Introducing the Jonple App

That’s why Jonple is perfect for busy on-the-go people like myself. Jonple is a health and fitness app that provides its users with information about nutrition and fitness. In addition it also provides an insight into the psychology of the choices and decisions we make to help us understand our behaviour.

The Jonple app will tailor a workout plan, and a nutritional plan to suit you. Each plan is personalised to your requirements. It’s certainly not a ‘one size fits all’ approach which is what I really like about the app. If you’re looking to kickstart your fitness regime during lockdown, Jonple may just be the app for you!

Pricing

Available in the app store and on Google Play, Jonple has a range of subscriptions to suit your budget.

How does the Jonple App work?

When you download the Jonple app, one of the first things you’ll need to do is a fitness test. This involves a mixture of different exercises such as jogging on the spot, planking, squats and some stretches toward the end of the test.

I really like that each section of the fitness test comes with a video to show you what you need to do. You can also pause the workouts if you need to.

After completing the fitness test, your personalised plan will be shown to you.

In addition to your workouts for that day, you’ll find your nutrition plan which includes your breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner for the day. Much like the workout videos, the food section also has videos of how to make your meals, along with nutritional information about that meal.

You can also record your meals on the app, and if you don’t fancy what the app suggests you can simply add your own meal.

Psychology and Hijacks

Another thing that I really like about the Jonple app which I think sets it apart from other similar apps is that you can record ‘hijacks’. It’s hard to stick to a plan every day. You’re bound to have your ‘off days’ and this is where ‘hijacks’ come into play. Hijacks are challenging moments that happen during your day. Whether it be overindulging in food that day or something else, you can log your ‘hijack’ in the app and select from the options available about it made you feel.

You can also add your own ‘feeling’ if how you’re feeling isn’t already listed.

Final Thoughts

I found using the app a lot of fun, and I think that’s because I can just pick it up at a time that suits me. Either early in the morning before the kids are awake or when they’re in bed. I also like that you don’t need any specialist equipment to get started. The plan is tailored to your fitness level and is supported by a nutrition plan to help you hit your goals.

I also really like that the app encourages you to eat real food and allows for snacks. This is great for encouraging long term healthy eating habits.

One of my favourite meals from my plan is the creamy broccoli and smoked salmon pasta. It was ready in just 20 minutes and was full of flavour. It didn’t feel like ‘diet food’. It was healthy and filling.

In addition to exercise and nutrition, the app also focuses on the psychology of the decisions we make. By answering a few simple questions in the ‘USection’ of the app, you can access a variety of mental exercises, and answer questions about how your day has been. There’s also a ‘journal’ section which I love!

If you’re interested in giving the Jonple app a go, you can get a free 7 day full access trial by clicking here.

Overall, I think Jonple is a great way to help you achieve your goals. Whether that’s losing weight, eating healthier, feeling better about yourself, or maybe even all three of those! I’ve been using the app for just over a week and my jeans already fit me a little better. They’re certainly not as snug as they were over the festive season!
