Winter Holidays in the Sun!
Can you believe that Christmas is just around the corner! It feels like it was only a few weeks ago that I was planning what presents I’d be buying my family and friends, and now it’s just one week away!
The run up to Christmas can be quite stressful, especially if you have to buy presents for lots of people and even more so if you’re the one hosting Christmas day. With all the preparations, shopping and cooking that needs to be done, it quite often leaves me feeling in desperate need of a holiday!
This time of year is actually a great time to grab yourself a bargain holiday with an amazing late deal. If, like me, you’re looking for a late deal, take a look at loveholidays.com. With destinations such as Portugal, Malta, Morocco and many more, you’re sure to find yourself some sun this winter!
Morocco is actually one of my favourite ever holiday destinations. My husband and I went there, Marrakech to be exact, before our children were born.
I have very fond memories of Marrakech. I was desperate to hold a snake and have my photo taken in the main square, Djemaa-el-fna. My husband was petrified and wouldn’t come anywhere near me or the snakes, but I wanted him in the photo too so he sort of loitered in the background!
We were also lucky to witness the truly magical transformation of the main square from day to night. By day it’s a busy market square filled with tourists, but by night it’s a hustle and bustle of street food, local people mixed with tourists and the smell of the food in the air is truly amazing!
Marrakech is a pretty colourful place. The riad we stayed in was adorned with colour, traditional cushions and the smell of fresh mint tea – which you have to try if you ever go!
The Ouzoud Waterfalls is a great place to sample some fresh mint tea and local food. I’d definitely like to go back again, but maybe when our children are older! For now we tend to stick to places that aren’t too far away in terms of travel time. Menorca has been a favourite destination of ours to date. We’ve been twice, but next year I think we’ll try somewhere a little different.
A late deal would be perfect for us at the moment as money is pretty tight. We’d like to buy a house next year, so we’ll be making the most of the late deals available. I’m thinking Portugal or Gran Canaria. Have you ever been? I’d love to hear what you thought of it!
