Ty Hafan Precious Moments Campaign: Week Seven

This weeks word is ‘upbeat’.


One of the best moments of my life for me was when my husband and I were allowed to finally take our twin girls home from hospital. 


They were six weeks premature, weighed 4lb3 and 2lb11 at birth and spent 27 days in hospital. R, who weighed 4lb3, had breathing difficulties shortly after birth so was put on a ventilator and M had stopped growing which was the reason why she was only 2b11, plus the reason why I had to have a planned c-section six weeks early. 

Those 27 days of worry, upset, fear, anger, confusion and so many other emotions, was finally coming to an end. It was terrifying. It meant when we arrived home there were no nurses or doctors on hand. We had no back-up. It was just the two of us now. Two of us in charge of two tiny babies. 


The moment we were loaded them into their car seats ready to come home was very emotional. Yes, I felt upbeat. So very upbeat at being able to be a ‘proper’ mum now! 


R and M are nearly four years old now. They started nursery in September and last week had their first Christmas concert. They were snowflakes! They’re our strong, precious girls and I feel very lucky to be their mum.
