Three Things To Get In Order When You’re Expecting!
Finding out you’re pregnant is one of the most exciting moments of your life, although fear and anxiety usually aren’t far behind! While it’s a magical time, a new baby changes everything, and there’s a lot to think about. Thankfully you have nine months to get things in order, here are three main areas you might need to evaluate with a little one on the way.
Your Home
Is your current home suitable for a child? If you live in an apartment with a lot of stairs, or if your home is difficult to access how will you manage with a pram? You’ll of course also need an extra room for your baby, so if you’re currently living in a one bedroom property, then a move is going to be needed. Other things to bear in mind is whether you have a garden since this is a nice space for a child to play in when the weather is warm. And how close you are to local schools, parks, and other amenities. If you moved into your current home as a couple without children, these aren’t likely to be things you thought about- but that all changes with a baby on the way! You may be able to make changes to your current home, but if it’s not suitable then begin the search for something new. Buying a home gives you more stability and is perfect for starting your family in. However, if you have adverse credit, this can make things more difficult. Your Car
One thing most couples have to do when they find out they’re expecting is change their car. Maybe you have a little sporty number, or perhaps your car only has three doors. This would make it difficult to get a baby in and out of the car seat in the back. Switching to a larger, safer and more family friendly model could be the way to go. Be sure to read plenty of reviews and work out what’s best for you. If you plan on having more children in the near future or are expecting multiples, be sure you can fit the correct amount of car seats in the back. A five-door model will make getting children in and out much easier, and a large boot to store things like prams, shopping (and as they get older trikes and bikes) is also a good idea too.
Your Finances
There’s no doubt that babies are expensive. Getting your finances in order and putting a new budget in place is necessary with a baby on the way. There’s so much to buy, plus if you’ve had to move house and buy a new car, they are other huge expenses. You will more than likely want to start a savings account for the baby and generally, make sure you have enough to provide them with everything they need. If you will be leaving work either temporarily or for the foreseeable future, you will need to work out your budget based on your partner’s earnings. There’s a lot to think about, so this is one thing to get in order when you’re expecting a baby.
