The friend who didn’t take photos!
OMG! I went to the farm a few weeks ago with a friend of mine and her children. Can you believe that she didn’t take photos of our days out?! What a weirdo! Haha!
Oh wait a minute.
Maybe, I’m the weirdo?
Since when did it become normal to photograph every moment of every minute of your waking lives?
Yup. I think I’m the weirdo!
Taking pictures of a sign, of a car park, a field. Not exactly photo frame or photo album friendly material is it?
In fact, I’m pretty sure I probably did my friends nut in with my incessant picture taking!
Why was I taking pictures? Well, we hadn’t been to this farm before so I wanted to write a review about it on my blog.
I find reviews helpful and will quite often read reviews of places that I want to go to, before I actually go there so that I can see what the place I want to go to is like before I even get there!
Wow, what did we ever do before the internet? Turn up at a new place with no idea what it’d be like.
How scary!
Well, maybe not!
I guess it’d be like an adventure!
It seems like everyone nowadays wants to know everything about everywhere and everyone before we go there or meet them. Why is that?
Are we afraid of the unknown? Does being organised and prepared make us feel more secure about what lies ahead?
Who knows?!
Anyway, back to my friend.
When she arrived at the farm, I was happily snapping away on my phone. By this point I’d probably already taken in excess of 20 photos and I hadn’t even left the first area of the farm!
As we were wandering out, I actually thought to myself. She isn’t taking pictures. Why isn’t she taking pictures?
Then it dawned on me. She’s living the now. She’s enjoying the moment with her children. Not thinking about what she should photograph next, but what her kids may find enjoyable.
She did take one photo whilst we were there and that was a photo of all of us on a tractor ride. I guess sometimes, one photo is all we need to sum up our day.
A picture of all of us at the farm. I think that actually summed up our day pretty well. We were all smiling and having a good time.
Time to put the phone camera away? Only time will tell!

Yep, I get this. Sometimes if we've had a day out, the girls and hubby can be discussing things they seen and I won't have seen it because I was too busy taking pictures. The thought of putting the camera down though and not having pictures to look back on…aargh!

I rarely take photos, I guess I'm somewhere between the 'then' and the 'now'. I like the odd one, but mostly I'm just, like you say, living in the moment. However, I don't see anything wrong with being snap happy xx

I do take photos a lot of time but I noticed I'm missing something, like how my kids enjoyed the place. It;s because I like to look back at our photos and see the memories we've shared in that particular place/event. #binkylinky

I take pics but not as much as I used to. For example my daughter's recent party and my baby shower I hardly got any! Like you say it's good t try and live in the moment and enjoy. I like to take a couple of good insta photos and try and put my phone away! Thanks for hosting xx

I love this post, I think it's so important to put the camera away sometimes although it is difficult as I love to capture the moments that we can look back on forever. That said, life isn't designed to be lived via the lens of a camera, sometimes I feel I miss some precious moments because I'm too busy concentrating on getting the best shot. #binkylinky

This is why I rarely take videos of any events. I want to savour the event as it is happening, not have to watch it later because I missed it the first time. I do like to capture a few snaps though.

Moderation is key, same as with everything else. I try and get a pic or three whenever we go someplace cool like that. Document the occasion and put down the phone. #binkylinkky

The curse of the blogger hey?? I'm with your friend as it happens. I do take pics and I do think of the blog…but there has to be a balance. Constantly taking pics does detract from the day. That said, Facebook is an equally big curse. I think and awful lot of mums and dads post too much to their timelines. Live for the here and now, as you say. Thanks for hosting #BinkyLinky

I consciously don't talk my camera out with me sometimes but then I always regret it, it's lovely capturing those moments but I think striking a balance between being present in the moment and capturing the day is what its all about

Hello my name is Becci and i am a photo-aholic. My childrens every breath is photographed. I was brought up by a photographer so to me its 2nd nature but i do envy people who can just put down the camara. My problem is the sencind i would i would miss the ' perfect shot ' #binkylinky

I admit that I do take a lot of photos but I love them and I love looking back on them as does my 2 year old. I will show him a picture and he knows exactly what we were doing that day. I would probably take slightly less photos but I think photos are important to look back on. I am a very visual person and photos help me in some weird way? #binkylinky
