Help! My toddlers love their dummies!

I swore blind before our twins were born that a dummy would never ever reach their little mouths! They would be cuddled, they would be nursed or rocked or maybe even sang to for hours on end to calm them, but a dummy would never pass their lips. Bah ha ha ha ha ha! Oh how foolish! How naive, innocent and sweet my views of raising our children were! I remember one time when our twins were in special care. I had made it very clear to the nurses that I didn’t want our children to have dummies so imagine… [Read More]

The Dummy Fairy Workshop Review

I’ve blogged previously about my attempts to wean our girls off their dummies and for a short while it worked.  Somehow though we’ve slipped back into old habits and have been allowing the girls to have their dummies during the day.  Ideally the only time I want them to have a dummy is for nap and bed time.  Around two weeks ago I started working on reducing the amount of time that the girls have their dummies. It’s actually gone better than the last time I tried as R hasn’t asked for her dummy as much as she did last… [Read More]

Organix Winter Warmers Range

We were recently sent some Mighty Meals and Mighty Soups from Organix for our twins to try. I’ve never actually thought of giving our girls soup before. I tend to stick to sandwiches and hot meals, but soup is the perfect option for a warming, wholesome lunch or dinner for our little ones, especially as the weather turns colder. Organix Mighty Soups (for children aged 1-3 years) are packed full of chunky, organic and wholesome ingredients and include tasty recipes such as Hearty Root Veg and Beans, Tangy Tomato and Pasta and Tasty Sweetcorn and Noodles – they offer just the right… [Read More]

Wow, I bet that it is the best title for a blog post you have seen in a long while! Going back to my post about routines and whether or not they can be flexible (click here) I decided to try the girls with some sandwiches for lunch today. I have given them sandwiches before but most of it got squished in their tiny little hands and promptly thrown to the floor!  Anyway, I prepared a hot meal as well for the girls just in case the sandwiches weren’t a hit but they were! I thought R would be okay… [Read More]

Weaning Complete (A late update)

Before I begin I should say sorry for the lack of weaning posts. My last one (click here) was some time ago, so I’ll do my best to write everything I remember. In my last post I talked about how the girls appetites were growing which meant that Twin Daddy and I decided to increase the amount of food we fed the girls. Well, I am happy to say that we are no longer using baby food jars as our girls are now eating proper family foods.  How did we transition from baby food jars to normal food? Well, just… [Read More]

Growing appetites

Twin daddy and I took the girls to be weighed yesterday. M is now 14lb and a half. R is 16lb5 and a half. Over the past 2 weeks, well, certainly the last week, I have noticed that both our girls appetites have grown. They wolf down their breakfast and lunch, and even though they both have a snack between breakfast and lunch, and lunch and tea, I’ve noticed that quite often by lunch and tea time, they are both really hungry. The girls have a 4oz bottle around 5am, followed by porridge at 8am. I have increased the amount… [Read More]

All Change!

It’s amazing how quickly things can change when you have a baby. I’m referring to routines. My last post about our routine, which can be found here, detailed our routine. I posted that 7 days ago and guess what? We now have another new routine! Wow! All change again!  The girls, I have to say, are happy babies. Ok, I know I am likely to be biased, as I am their mum, but I honestly believe they are happy babies! They smile and laugh a lot and only really cry when there is something wrong and I don’t mean hunger,… [Read More]

Growing up

I can’t believe how quickly our girls are growing up. Every day I look at them first thing in the morning and think the same thing to myself.  They look like they have grown over night! They look bigger, older and more robust than the tiny 4lb3 and 2lb11 babies born into the world 8 months ago.  They are more interactive with each other and they both love exploring. They are both so vocal and very, very active! R absolutely loves jumping up and down, up and down, up and down in her jumperoo. She also loves grabbing anything she… [Read More]

Weaning Twins: Lumps!

Weaning has been going well. For those of you that haven’t read my previous weaning posts, here is our current routine: (our twins are almost 9 months old) 5am:     Bottle 8am:     Porridge 10am:   Toast, biscotti, fruit custard 12pm:   Lunch 230pm: Bottle 430pm: Tea 7pm:    Bottle We have been using shop bought baby food jars for lunch and tea. We had hoped to use our own home made puree, but we couldn’t get the consistency right. Anyway, we are now trying to get the girls used to stage 2 baby food – lumps! At… [Read More]

Twin mummy’s first trip to the city centre with the twins!

I have been saying to Twin Daddy for some time now that I really want to go somewhere on my own with the girls. This isn’t because I’m being antisocial or anything, its just because when Twin Daddy is at work during the day, the furthest I venture with our girls is our local area. I’m happy and more than confident to take the girls for a walk in the pushchair or go to the shops or to baby group but I wanted to do something more with them. I wanted to be brave and feed the girls their lunch… [Read More]
