A year of self-employment

The 11th October 2018 will mark my one year anniversary of being self-employed. It’s been such an up and down journey, but overall, it’s been a very positive experience. In August 2017 I accepted redundancy from the company I’d worked for since I was 17 years old. It was a very daunting time, but I looked upon it as an exciting time. A time to start afresh, a new chapter. A chance to do something different that would make my life, and the lives of my family easier. On the 11th October 2017 I completed my very first self-employed job…. [Read More]

Is a franchise right for you?

October 11th this year will by my one year self-employment anniversary. I can’t quite believe that I’m self-employed, but I have to say that it’s one of the best decisions I ever made. After accepting redundancy back in 2017, I wasn’t sure what my future would hold. Having worked for a company for 13 years, the majority of which was full time, I then went down to part time after my children were born. Getting used to being self-employed

Back in August 2017 I accepted redundancy from the company that I’d work for since I was 18. It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was certainly the most logical. Although I was offered an alternative job with the same company, which I did trial, it simply didn’t work out. It was an evening job which I initially thought would work quite well for me, however that wasn’t the case. I had thought that it’d be good because I could take our children to school and pick them up meaning my husband could start work earlier, (he’s also self-employed). Unfortunately,… [Read More]

Advice to my younger self

The older I get the more I’ve found myself thinking about what advice I would offer to my younger self if I could go back and do so. Thoughts range from ‘don’t even think about dating him’ to ‘don’t eat that chocolate bar!’ In all seriousness though it didn’t take me long to start remembering all of the things that used to worry me as a child. I was always a bit of a worrier. I don’t know why really. I mean I had everything I could ever have needed and wanted. I even had worry dolls! They were like little… [Read More]

A letter to my 13 year old self

Me around 13 years old I recently read a post by Nicola (who blogs at Nicola…Life Through My Eyes) which I found really interesting. Nicola wrote a letter to her 15 year old self and it got me thinking about what I would say to myself now that I am older. I thought I would write a letter to my 13 year old self because at that age I found myself going through a range of different emotions and challenges. Here goes: Dear Emily, You are 13 years old and have the weight of the world on your shoulders. You are… [Read More]
