We love a good book so when we were asked to review a book entitled’ The Rare Monkey with a Colourful Bottom’ we just had to say yes!
Our twin girls are four years old so the very fact that the title of this book has the word ‘bottom’ in it was a winner with them!
This delightful picture book for children up to the age of five tells the story of the rare monkey. He’s the only monkey in the wild with a multi-coloured, bright bottom.
This book follows the monkey on a journey of cheek and colour as he discovers the importance of being yourself and liking who you are.
All of the animals in the wild make fun of the rare monkey because of his colourful bottom. As such the monkey does his best to make sure his bottom is always hidden as he doesn’t want to made fun of.
One day the rare monkey decides to leave the wild and he enters a town where everything Is very different from the wild. Everything is colourful and no-body makes fun of his colourful bottom. In fact they all this it’s wonderful.
It’s not long before the monkey starts to miss the wild, so he decides to return, but unlike before, he was no longer afraid to show his colourful bottom. Instead of hiding it, he walked around proudly, happy in his own skin.
This book is great because it encourages healthy self-esteem and to like who you are. Overall, this is a great children’s book that our children love. It’s beautiful illustrated and tells a beautiful story.
For the purpose of this review we were sent one copy of this book. All views and opinions are 100% my own.
