Protecting your home: Most Demanding Wooden Floors in the UK! *

When you live in a house with children, it can be hard to protect your household wares from damage. A spilt drink here or a blob of yoghurt there, can ruin your best carpet and leave your beautiful wooden flooring stained forever.

Sadly, I know this from personal experience. Sometimes a spilt drink can be mopped up pretty quickly, but when you’ve got kids they may not always tell you straight away if they’re spilt their drink. This means it could be left to sit on the surface of your lovely wooden floor for a long time, which can then cause stains and further damage to your flooring.

Of course, it’s inevitable that at some point your children will have accidents. Whether that’s knocking over a drink or dropping some food onto the floor, but there are a number of measures that you can take to protect your home and they needn’t be expensive.

I love to have carpets in my home. The feeling of them underfoot is one that I enjoy, especially as I take my first steps out of bed in the morning, but sometimes carpets just aren’t practical, especially with children, and even more so if you have pets. Carpets stain easily and they can be a hassle to clean which can result in you having to spend extra money on getting a specialist out to clean the carpet for you. That’s whyI think that engineered oak wood flooring can often be a better choice.

Not only is it easy to clean, it’s also durable and available in a variety of colours and grains to suit your home and the current furnishings that you already have. It’s also pretty versatile. Consider this, if you decided to change the colour scheme of your room, you may also need to change your flooring. However oak flooring usually goes with anything so there’d be no need to change the floor as well, which in turn will end up saving you some money. That’s one of the things I love about having wooden flooring. No matter how many changes your decor or key pieces of furniture, your wooden flooring will always match!

You may be wondering what engineered oak flooring is. I wasn’t sure what this was either until I started doing some research into what options were available for us. To put is simply, engineered oak wood flooring is made up of 3-12 multiple ply woods (generally hardwood). This type of flooring has a ‘veneer’, a type of solid wood, glued to the top of it’s core.

The reason it’s good for homes with children and pets is that it’s tough enough to withstand moisture, so there’s no need to worry about the odd spilt drink, but it’s also easily repairable if it should get damaged.

We all know how much our pets loves to run around, so you needn’t worry about their claws leaving scratch marks as this type of wooden flooring is pretty durable.
