On the ninth day of Christmas – The Kids Don’t Stop at Christmas

As I’m taking part in the 12 days of Christmas blogging event, the title for this post was originally, ‘the baby doesn’t stop at Christmas’, meaning that babies still need to be weaned and fed etc. However my children aren’t babies anymore, they’re almost four years old, so I’ve adapted the title of the post to suit us a bit.

Christmas when you’re a parent is pretty amazing. I love the build-up of taking the kids to see Santa, getting them to write a letter to Santa and I love being able to go out and buy Christmas presents. 

To children, Christmas is a magical time of year in which they receive presents, get to spend the day with loved ones and eat good food!

Of course, just because it’s Christmas though, that doesn’t mean the tantrums will stop for the day! In fact there may well be more tantrums on Christmas day than on any other day of the year! 

Christmas day can be pretty busy. Last year our girls spent well over an hour opening their Christmas presents before they’d even had breakfast. We had to convince them to take a break to eat something! 

With all the visitors coming in and out, bringing out presents it can be a little overwhelming for children which can result in over tired children. 


Aside from the tantrums I think as long as you deal with them as you would normally, then you’ll be ok! Maybe just keep in mind that they may need a little time out from all of the hustle and bustle!

    It's the Boxing Day morning tantrum in dreading… She'll come downstairs to find no advent calendar treat or presents under the tree 😱
