Memory Box Inspired Crafts

How do you like to remember those special moments in your life?

How would you like your children to look back at their childhood?

There are lots of things you can do either for yourself, a loved one or for your children to ensure that special memories aren’t forgotten.

It’s important to make memories last whether it be a holiday, special occasion or life changing moment. I don’t have many photos of my childhood and that’s always been something that’s made me a bit sad. With that being said it’s important to me that my children have photo’s of their childhood.

From a simple day trip to the farm to their first time on a bus, they’re all moments that I want to treasure forever. That’s the great thing about creating a memory box or similar. It doesn’t matter how big or small an event or moment is, if it’s worth remembering then it’s all worth it.

USB 4 Photographers want people to start creating their memories in a physical form rather than storing it all digitally and I have to agree.

I do have a number of photos and videos stored on my laptop, phone and also on a number of memory cards, but all too often we’ll upload and save these photos and then do nothing with which usually means that they get forgotten about.

In a bid to inspire you to make the most of your precious memories here are a few memory box inspired crafts to help get you started.

Memory Box


A memory box is quite simply a box that you can fill up with all sorts of things. You could include things such as cinema tickets from the first time you took your toddler to see a film in the cinema. Maybe their first ever baby outfit or Christmas outfit.

Photos are always great to include. Whether they’re just placed loosely in the box or used to decorate the box itself.

Here is a picture of one of my girls memory boxes. They include much of the things I’ve noted above along with their hospital tags and other things that are just far too precious to get rid of.

Memory Blanket

Our girls spent the first 27 days of their lives in hospital. They were born prematurely which meant that when we were finally able to dress them in proper clothes it was such a special moment.

I simply couldn’t bring myself to throw out or take their clothes to the charity shop so I decided to turn them into a blanket. It took quite a while, but it was really worth the effort. I followed a tutorial I’d found online and created their blankets.

I hope that when the girls are older they’ll cherish them!

Photo Albums


I take a lot of photos. Probably too many!

I always print off a number of my favourite photos every month so that I can add them to a photo album.

It’s not just any photo album though, it’s a scrap book photo album which means that each photo has to be glued in individually. It’s great because it means I can also add notes and drawings to each page too.
