When it comes to packing, nothing ever seems to go smoothly, despite all the planning in the world, one of the most stressful parts is when you come to pack your vehicle.

Whether you are going on a staycation, a camping trip, or a road trip, the last thing you need is for your luggage to not fit. To make it a little easier, have a look at some of these tips:

Get To Know The Size Of Your Boot

Just knowing the size of your boot can help you to figure out whether your luggage will actually fit. You should also think about what items you might want to take out if you don’t have the room. If you have a young child, for example, you will likely be packing all the essential baby items, you will certainly need a boot big enough to fit everything.

If a boot won’t do, you could use a roof box for extra storage. If you plan on taking your motorcycle you should get some GIVI motorcycle luggage

Think Critically

The way you put your luggage in the car is crucial. You need to think critically about it and have a plan. Think about the game Tetris. Larger items should go in first, to help prevent wasted space. Any spaces you spot as loading should be used by smaller items. Biggest luggage at the bottom, and small hand luggage on the top. Make sure there is no loose item that can fly around the car. Everything needs to be in place and accounted for.

Vacuum Pack

If you don’t pack light, vacuum packing your belongings in your suitcase can enable you to take twice as much. They are pretty cheap to acquire, but you do need to bear in mind that you will need to have a vacuum on the other end to pack for the return journey. It can help to save on space massively. If you are taking things with you that aren’t coming on the return journey, you may not need to vacuum on the return journey.

Be Ruthless

This is a little like decluttering, so when you are packing ask yourself, do I really need that item? Is that extra pair of shoes essential? Or could space be used for something more useful?

Be Creative

You need to make the most of any hidden space. The space under the seats and the glove box are just a few. All spaces in your car are fair game when struggling to find space. You would be surprised how much even a small car can carry when you use all the available space.

These are just a few of the clever ways you can make the most of the space in your car when going away. Do you have any other tips that you could share? Please share some ideas in the comments below.
