My Favourite TV shows & Toys from the ’90s

I was born in the late ’80s which means that I grew up in the ’90s. Growing up in the 90’s has so many highlights for me. From my favourite TV shows to my favourite ’90s toys. I thought I’d share some of them with you!

First up I can’t talk about the 90’s without mentioning Kenan and Kel.

“Who loves orange soda? Kel loves orange soda! Is it true? Is it true? Oh yes, oh yes, oh ye-es. I do, I do, I do oooo!”

Haha, my sister and I could sit for hours watching those guys!

Then there was The Fresh Prince of Bel Air which starred Will Smith. The catchy theme tune was a song all ’90s kids knew off by heart and if you didn’t, well, you just weren’t cool!

Another favourite of mine was Sabrina the Teenage Witch. I wanted to be Sabrina so much! Being able to change outfits in the blink of an eye was super cool, and I loved aunties and of course, Salem, the talking cat!

I also loved ‘Sister Sister’ and again this was a theme tune that I knew off by heart. Who am I kidding? I still know it off by heart!

Now, moving onto my favourite toys of the ’90s!

My absolute favourite was ‘Scamp’. Scamp was a toy dog that came with a lead. You could put the dog on the lead and take it for walks by pushing it around. It was wheeled and this toy came everywhere with me! I actually looked for one a few years back to see if I could get one for my girls, but wasn’t successful. Sadly, I have no idea what happened to the one I had.

Another favourite toy which has made a bit of a comeback recently are trolls. I had a teeny tiny minuscule one with red hair that I adored! I don’t know what it was about trolls, but I loved them!

Then there were also Tamagotchis, Gameboys, Polly Pockets, Care Bears, oh and I loved the wooden Labyrinth game! I’d sit in my bedroom for so long playing on that, yet, if I gave that game to my kids nowadays, I’m not sure they’d see the appeal of it! There was also screwball scrabble, kind of a similar toy to Labryinth, but more colourful and fun!

It’s funny how toys like these become so appealing to children. My girls are currently into anything collectable. They love Genie Girls. It’s not hard to see why. Like trolls, they’re small and cute, but they’re also colourful and change colours.

I try to keep the toys that my girls are fond of so that when they’re older they’ll still be able to keep them. Maybe it’s me being silly, but I have a few toys from my own childhood that I keep and I treasure them so much. How about you? Do you have any toys from your childhood?
