Every year we like to go on a family holiday. This is usually somewhere abroad like Menorca, Majorca or Disneyland Paris.
Our twin girls are quite lucky because they’ve been on an aeroplane every year of their lives, with their first time being when they were just 11 months old.
Like many parents my husband and I were a little nervous about taking our twins on an aeroplane at such a young age, but I’m glad we did because it proved to be a lot less stressful than we thought it would be.
We had visions of our twin babies crying for the entire duration of the flight much to the irritation of the other passengers onboard, but that wasn’t the case at all!
They were very well behaved and enjoyed looking out of the window, taking in all of the goings on inside the aeroplane such as the cabin crew doing their safety checks and coming up and down the aisle with their trolley.
I remember packing a backpack before we flew that was filled purely with things to entertain our girls on the flight. I packed crayons, paper, colouring books, picture books, toys and more! In truth I didn’t use any of those things as the surroundings of the aeroplane was more than enough to keep them entertained!
Granted it was only a two hour flight so a longer one may have required some entertaining on our part, but that first flight prepared me for all of the future ones to come, and I now only ever pack a few snacks for our girls. That’s one less item of carry on luggage to worry about!
I always remember when I was a child, my parents were quite meticulous when it came to booking holidays. They’d do their research first, usually by reading a holiday guide book. Then they’d look at all of their options to see who they should book with. One fond memory is seeing them looking at holidays via the TV set!
Not that much has changed since then really. I mean I always do some research before I book my holiday, usually with Tripadvisor, and then when I come home from holiday I like to write a little review on their website too.
When it comes to booking our family holiday I look online at websites such as teletext holidays all inclusive to try and find the best, cheapest deal I can.
This year we’re probably going to give Spain a miss. We’ve been to Menorca and Majorca a lot since our girls were born, and we’ve also been to Disneyland Paris twice.
My husband and I were thinking of going somewhere slightly further afield this year. Greece is one possibility. I’ve never been before and it does appeal for lots of different reasons so its highly likely we’ll price that up.
I think wherever you decide to go, as long as you can all relax and make the most of it, then you’re all sure to enjoy it and make some lasting memories.
