Every summer I usually buy the girls a £5 paddling pool from the local supermarket. They’re not the kind that blow up, they’re the ridged sided ones, but they’ve always been lots of fun, however they usually only last for one summer.
When I asked to review something from Mothercare, I headed straight to the paddling pools and choose this
Large Family Pool by ELC. It’s £35 and as the name of it goes, there’s certainly plenty of room for the whole family!
I was surprised at how small the box was, but it was very heavy! Inside is the pool, a small puncture repair kit and an instruction leaflet, although the instructions didn’t actually give any instructions aside from not to put the pool onto a concrete surface. I didn’t really need the instructions anyway as it’s pretty self explanatory!
I would recommend buying an electric pump to blow the pool up as it is very big and a foot pump would take a very long time! I purchased an electric pump for just £10. It plugs into my car’s cigarette port and blew the pool up in just under 5 minutes.
There are two types of valves you can use to blow the pool up. One is a small valve, the type you’d probably find on kids armbands and the other is a round one which is much bigger – that’s the one I used. You need to blow the lower half of the pool up first and then the top half.
When the pool was blown up, it took around an hour to fill the pool up to the ‘fill line’. In hindsight I wished I hadn’t filled it up so much as it was a nightmare to empty! The plug inside the pool was useless and the water just sat in the pool even when the plug was pulled. I think the grassy surface underneath just held the water in! My husband and I had to use buckets to empty enough water out to make the pool light enough to tip out the remaining water!
When the pool was fully inflated I put it onto the grass in our garden and as you can see it is a really good size! The outside of the pool has cute animal pictures on such as dragonflies and snails.
I filled the pool up whilst the girls were in nursery so when they came home and saw it they were pretty excited and couldn’t wait to get in!
The pool is designed for 4-5 people and measures w183 x L305 x H46cm. It’s suitable for children aged three years and over with adult supervision at all times.
Overall, we really like the ELC large family pool. I think at £35 it’s really good value for money and I can see it getting a lot of use this summer!

That looks like a great pool, It looks a great size too. I have been thinking of getting my children a pool for the garden as I think they would love it, something like this looks ideal. I love Mothercare and buy clothes and toys for my little two from there all the time, such great quality xx

That is a pretty good sized pool!! We got a pool for our deck last year but haven't used it so I am pretty excited to have our boys in it this summer 🙂 Enjoy nice warm weather 🙂

That looks like a great sized paddling pool and I'm sure mine could have lots of fun it that without tripping over themselves. We do need a new one this year & this looks great!
