As you read this post I’d like to let you know that I’m currently on holiday in Menorca! Don’t worry there is a valid reason why I’m telling you this, aside from maybe making you slightly jealous!
When it comes to buying supplies for holidays such as sun cream, first aid necessities and travel sized shampoos etc I usually head straight to my local supermarket or pharmacy.
Although it takes time out of my day that could be better spent, I usually end up getting a good deal on the above items.
When
Chemist Direct invited me to work with them on a review of their service I was keen to test out a number of aspects.
Firstly the prices, secondly how easy it would be to find everything I needed and lastly how quickly delivery was.
I’ll start with the prices first
One bottle of Nivea Children’s Sun Lotion SPF50 costs £16.99 for a 200ml bottle with Chemist Direct. Upon checking the price with my local pharmacy the same item costs £6.50.
One Nivea Lip Care Sun SPF30 Sun Protect costs £3.99 with Chemist Direct. The same item in my local pharmacy costs £4.00.
A tub of Vaseline Pure Petroleum Jelly costs £2.80 for a 250ml tub with Chemist Direct. The same item costs £4.30 in my local pharmacy.
One tube of 30g Germolene Antiseptic Cream costs £1.69 on Chemist Direct. My local pharmacy sells this for £1.99.
One bottle of 200ml Nivea Cooling After Sun Spray costs £10.99 on Chemist Direct. My local pharmacy sells this for £5.00.
A bottle of travel sized (50ml) Batiste Original Dry Shampoo costs £1.20 with Chemist Direct. I couldn’t find this in my local pharmacy.
A 75ml can of Gillette Venus Satin Care Touch of Olay Shave Gel costs £2.17 with Chemist Direct. I couldn’t find the travel size version of this in my local pharmacy.
One Mitchum Fragrance Free Roll On (100ml) costs £3.29 with Chemist Direct. My local pharmacy sells the same product for £2.89.
I also had one Sure Sign Digital Thermometer from Chemist Direct which cost £3.79. My local pharmacy sells the same product, but a different brand for £5.40.
Overall Chemist Direct is more expensive than my local pharmacy.
Online Shopping Experience
I was very pleased with my online shopping experience with Chemist Direct.
It was easy to find everything that I needed. The prices and sizes of the products that I wanted were clearly displayed and I like that the majority of products have customer reviews on.
Creating my account was quick and easy, as was checkout.
Overall a great online shopping experience.
Delivery
I was really impressed with how speedy the delivery was. Within two days of placing my order I’d received my delivery.
I placed my order on June 3rd and received an email confirmation of my order.
On June 4th I receive an email to say that my order had been dispatched and on June 5th I received my order.
As the total of my order was over £40 I was eligible for free standard delivery which is the delivery method that I used.
My delivery arrived in a fairly small box.
I was pleased to see that the Vaseline, sun cream and after sun were all wrapped in bubble wrap.
Although the box that the thermometer was in was ripped. This didn’t bother me too much because the thermometer itself was absolutely fine.
The total cost of all of my items from Chemist Direct was £50.13.
Overall
Overall I was very pleased with my order. Regardless of the fact that Chemist Direct are more expensive than my local pharmacy, the ease of ordering online from the comfort of my own home in addition to the speed of the delivery service was very impressive.
For the purpose of this review I was given £50 to spend online with Chemist Direct. All opinions and views are 100% my own.
