Alison Hubble Book Review

I absolutely love a good book and so do our children. Every night we have a bedtime story or two!

I was recently sent a new book to review which is called, ‘This is the story of Alison Hubble, who went to bed single and woke up double!’


It’s a brand new tale of mathematical mayhem by master storyteller, Allan Ahlberg and magnificent illustrator, Bruce Ingman.

As per the title of the book, Alison Hubble went to bed one night and when she woke in the morning discovered she was now a twin as she’d somehow doubled overnight!
Our girls thought this was really funny! The story gives the reaction of Alison’s parents and of her friends at school, who also thought it was pretty funny, until they realised they didn’t know which one was the real Alison!




Alison continues to double in this truly surreal and hilarious tale! There are clever hidden jokes for parents and subtle visual humour for children. Alison Hubble pokes gentle fun at one of the parents’ worst nightmares – what to do when your children seem to be everywhere! Alison continues to double and double, creating a while lot of HUBBLE TROUBLE!


One of the girls favourite parts is when all of the Alison’s go into the garden and find a big tent full of sleeping bags for them all to sleep in, but suddenly overnight, they double again and got stuck in the sleeping bags! I thought this was pretty funny too!


The story is so much fun to read and we really love the illustrations as they really do help to bring the story to life!

Our girls love this book and we’ve read it a good few nights in a row! With a general release set for the 5th May, this book is sure to be pretty popular!

Overall, this is a super fun book that we’ll be reading again and again and again!
