A morning of fun at Rhondda Heritage Park
The Rhondda Heritage Park in Trehafod, Pontypridd is one of the many cultural attractions you can find in South Wales.
I remember many a school trip there when I was younger. It certainly makes for a fun and interesting day out for people of all ages.
You can go on a guided tour, explore the museum, enjoy a cuppa in the cafe or let the children loose in the Energy Zone Play Area. There’s also an art gallery.
During the Easter holidays I took our twins to the Heritage Park for a morning of fun!
It was my first return trip there since school so I was curious to see what it was like now and what they had to offer.
When we entered we were greeted by a friendly member of staff who advised us that there was a cafe upstairs and that we could go as far as the ‘chimney’ for free, but if we wanted to go further and into the Energy Zone Play Area that would be £2 per child.
I paid the £2 and we set off toward the Energy Zone. On the way there we wandered past the chimney and had fun spotting some of the Easter egg pictures on the way!
The Energy Zone was a lot bigger than I thought it was going be. There are different areas depending on your child’s age and I liked that the grounds were covered in sand as it provides an added play experience for the children.
Our twins also liked that the bins dotted around the park were made to look like frogs and bears. I think this was pretty cool too as it helps to encourage children to put their litter in the bins, but they also look better than normal rubbish bins too!
As mentioned above the park is made up several different play areas. Most of the areas have things that children can climb and there are swings, slides and see-saws too!
Toilet facilities are right within the park which is great because you don’t have very far to go at all, plus they were clean and had everything you would need.
On a warm summers day I imagine it would be lovely to bring a picnic as there are lots of picnic benches dotted around.
One of my favourite things about the park is the zip-line swing and I have to be honest and admit that I was the first to have a go! I was quickly followed by the twins and my sisters daughter as well.
R and M really enjoyed all of the different aspects the park had to offer. They climbed, ran, slid, dug in the sand and smiled a lot as they ran around exploring!
We had a lovely time at the Rhondda Heritage Park and will be sure to visit again soon!

Love the fact that the twins loved the bins!! Its the simple things in life and just being outdoors that keeps them happy!! Well done also for surviving twins!!! xxx
