A workout a day!

January 3, 2017

2017 is going to be my year!

I wonder how many people make this statement every year and fail to act upon it? A lot I imagine!

Well, this year I fully intend to make this year my year, and that starts with a healthy, focused and motivated me!

At the end of 2016 I managed to get into a routine of running 5k three times a week. 5k may not seem much to some people, but the previous year I couldn’t even run 1k, so to me being able to run 5k on a regular basis is a pretty good achievement.

I also started to eat better and in all I managed to loose half a stone.

I have put a few pounds back on over the festive season, which I expected, but now I’m determined to get myself back to a healthy weight and a fitter new me!

As such, I’ll be continuing to run, but I’m also going to add in a spin class one evening a week, as well a daily workout.

The reason behind the spin class is because I work two days a week. On these days I just struggle to find the motivation to go out for a run, but knowing that I’ve booked and paid for spin class will be enough motivation to make me go out and do it!

Spin class isn’t new to me so I know what to expect and I’m truly looking forward to going again.
Being able to have the confidence and motivation to go alone is something I’m proud of.

I’m also going to start yoga. I’ve never done yoga before, so I’ll be easing myself. If you know any online yoga for beginners videos please let me know!

I already have some free weights, a kettle bell and exercise bike so working out from will be pretty simple, and also free! The only thing I’ll actually be paying for is spin class once a week.

I also want to improve my core strength, so I’ll be focusing on this on my ‘non-cardio’ days.

By varying up the types of fitness exercises that I do, I’m hoping to keep and maintain my motivation!

Of course, I’ll also be eating healthy too, but I know I’ll have the odd treat here and there! Life would be boring if I didn’t!

Wish me luck! I’ll update you on my progress soon!

All the best. Last year i started a fitness programme where i would do at least 1 class a day. Sometimes i would do others. I didnt bother with any stupid diets, but instead cut down on a lot of stuff. After a few months i had definately lost weight. Think i lost around 5kg.

Good luck with your goal and congrats on the running. That is something I have never been able to do. If my little girl has tought me anything, its that to get a strong core use the monkey bars. Playgrounds make great exercise areas.

I’m a firm believer in yoga, and until August when I landed myself a slipped disc I had been going regularly for ten years. I’ve decided it’s time to get back to my pre baby weight or size, if I’m honest I think I’ve been waiting for the new year! Good luck, I’m sure you’ll slam dunk it! #ThatFridayLinky

Good for you, sounds like a fab plan. I got up to running 3 times a week (about 4.5k) last year but the Ms to some chest infections I got out of the habit so I really need to get back into it again this year, I’m barely managing one run a week at the mo and I don’t want to lose it after all the hard work getting to that point!

This sounds great! 5k is a great distance! I did a 5k 10 weeks after having a c section and it really was a bad idea! I wish I had your motivation to continue running. Maybe I should do it just to get out of the house. My husband is a qualified spinning instructor…and I watch him push people right to their limits in his classes. I’m not sure I could cope.

Also, for yoga, if you have a Wii fit/wii sports you can do yoga on there, it works quite well. X

I wish I had your motivation! I did spinning a few times and it nearly killed me! Lol. I plan on getting back out running though. And who knows, maybe I’ll brave a spin class again at some stage. #ThatFridayLinky

Good for you! I too am on the program hoping to see my best results this year as I turn 35…which is my mental “dreaded age” for some reason.

    Keep it up mama!

Spin is fantastic, a class I both really enjoy and feel that it has done more than just tick a box. I am keen to try out yoga as I often pick up muscle injuries at rugby and think I am lacking flexibility. #ThatFridayLinky

I totally understand the running thing. A couple of years ago I went ‘from couch to 5k’ quite literally. I did it to run a 5k for the Race For Life for my Mum. It’s such an achievement so well done. And good for you doing everything else too. I really struggle for motivation at this time of year. #thatfridaylinky

Good luck to you! I have also made it my mission to run this year (anyone who knows me knows that I have never been to the gym and never exercised) but I am determined. I want to run 5k for Reflux Awareness because they helped me so much and they aren’t as well known as a lot of other charities. I literally can’t run at all, but I am in it for the long haul! I bought my running shoes before christmas and some proper running clothes and knowing that I have already paid money means that I have to do it! I’ve done 2 runs this week and ran just over a mile which I am very proud about!! I will continue and I hope to be reading some motivational blogs from you to keep me going! #thatfridaylinky

Well done and 5k is a brilliant start. I’m useless at running, but joined the gym a couple of months back doing zumba, body balance and body pump. I’m enjoying it so much, but I need to focus more on eating better. I’m still finishing off the last of the Christmas chocolate #thatfridaylinky

What a great resolution. You’ve certainly made some good progress from not being able to do 1km last year to doing 5km by the end of 2016. Half marathon by the end of this year?
    Sorry it’s late.
