Pughs Garden Centre, Radyr has become one of our favourite places to visit. We’ve been a number of times now, either just for a wander around the shops, flowers and fish, or for an event such as their Santa’s Grotto or Butterfly Ball.
Today saw us return to Pughs Garden Centre for their Spooky Spiders Little Green Fingers Halloween workshop. Set in the The Woodland Lodge which is at the very back of the garden centre, the girls admired the plants, flowers and pumpkins as they made their way to the lodge.
When we arrived at the lodge, we were greeted by friendly staff who welcomed us to the lodge. The lodge was decorated with pumpkin bunting and other spooky items!
Once inside we found a seat and listened to a lovely lady explain how we would be making our spooky spiders!
Everything the children needed to make their spooky spiders was set up on the table. There were glue sticks, googly eyes, glitter, tissue paper and more!
The first thing we needed to do was thread some string through the holes in the middle of the paper plates to create a spiders web affect.
The girls then stuck tissue paper onto the paper plate and sprinkled glitter over the string to make a glittery web!
They then added some legs to their spiders using pipe cleaners, and decorated their spider with glitter!
As you can see the girls were very happy with their creations which are now hanging from the doorways in our home!
The great thing about this workshop is that it didn’t stop after the craft activity. All of the children were sent on a ‘Zombie Trail’. They needed to find various pictures of werewolves, mummies, pumpkins and more!
The first lot were easy to find, but they last one, the werewolf was very good at hiding, so it took us a good ten minutes, but the girls were determined to find him, and they did!
We then wandered around the shop and admired all of the lovely Christmas decorations, before going over the road to look at the fish! We then returned for some lunch in The Watering Can Coffee Shop which was lovely!
We had a great time at Pughs Garden Centre. Thank you! We’ll be back again for the Santa’s Grotto!

Sounds like you guys had an amazing time!! I forgot that garden centre was there, I’m going to have to go there now 🙂

We love visiting Pughs and only live a few minutes down the road – great little spot for when you want to get out of the house and the fish are always popular. Such lovely crafts they have done this year for Halloween
