When Twin Daddy and I first moved in together we chose a second floor flat with a small balcony. It suited a purpose and was a lovely first home. When our twins were born and we brought them home, I knew straight away that I wanted to move. I wanted a ground floor home with a garden. Somewhere I could relax in and also play in with our girls.
We moved in December 2012 to a lovely ground floor maisonette, which has a lovely garden. Our girls love to explore it and try eating the plants. We had a close encounter with a worm, but thankfully I was able to interject just in time!
My garden is worth a lot to me. I love watching our girls run around it barefoot. The feeling of cold grass on your bare feet is something I think every child should experience! Having the ability to put up a little slide, a paddling pool in the summer and a mini climbing frame for our girls is wonderful. Having that little bit of outside space for them to run around and explore is great fun and a good way to wear them out before bedtime!

Our garden was covered in paving slabs and concrete when we moved in. It’s recently undergone a makeover and we now how turf, flowers and a veggie patch. Most importantly, it’s safe for my little one to play in now.

I love being in the countryside away from it all, so living in a town my garden is the nearest I get. Its a wildlife zone in the middle of noisy chaos! I have a pond full of newts, bumble bees nesting in a birdbox and frogs in my ‘wildlife corner’. Time spent out in the garden is mostly about creating places for wildlife to be happy and safe, peering into the pond to see what I can see and being chased off by bees for getting too close!
