Understanding Your Child’s Education

Your understanding of your child’s education is an important factor in your child’s desire to learn and ability to succeed. Being knowledgeable on the education system and the curriculum that they follow can help you to identify areas for improvement and give your child the tools to improve. The school system in the UK is split up into what’s known as key stages according to age and at the end of each, your child will be assessed to determine where they are in their progress. These stages go from 1 to 4. There is also a stage that comes before KS1 known as early years where your child will reach the beginning stages of their education and develop key skills.

This is typically one that’s decided on by the local government or by the school themselves if your child attends a private school or an academy. If not, this is something that their teacher should be able to tell you, including where they should be for their age.

They can take care of things on that end and relay your child’s progress and what you need to know. This can help your child to improve in their studies and catch up if they’ve fallen behind.
