As children get older, it can be difficult to motivate them to work from home. The responsibility for the success in their studies falls entirely on their shoulders, so it is vital that children understand the importance of regular study sessions at home. Although it is important to encourage your child to study at home, it is also important not to force your child as this will only make them want to do the opposite. Remember there is a difference between forcing and motivating your child. Try and find positive ways to help your child build habits that will aid with their studies. Try and figure out what is making your child not want to study in the first place. If your child seems unmotivated when it comes to their school work, there may be an underlying issue that needs to be resolved first. some of the main reasons that your child lacks motivation could be not understanding the material taught, anxiety, low self-confidence and work that doesn’t suit their learning style. 

Make study time easier for your child. If the idea of studying seems difficult for your child, this could be reason enough for them to want to avoid it. Do your part by helping make study sessions as easy as possible by providing them with everything they may need. 

Help them reduce stress. Go for regular walks, do fun activities and take off any excessive amounts of workload that could be getting in the way of them focusing on their studies. Simple activities such as listening to music or colouring can be ways for your child to destress.
