Things to do in and around Cardiff this Easter with kids
Easter is almost upon us and for those of us with children, here in Wales, that means two weeks off school. I love the Easter holidays. In fact, I love any half term in which I get to spend the whole day with my children doing fun activities.
With that in mind, finding activities that don’t break the bank can be tricky! So here is a list of activities, and a brand new farm to visit this Easter!
Pencoed Fach Farm Blackwood – Free!
This small, organic, family farm in Blackwood, South Wales is offering free entry to the farm for the first week of the Easter holidays. There’s no need to book either. You can just turn up.
Weather permitting, there will be tractor trailer rides, an Easter trail, goats, sheep and calves in the animal barn, milkshakes, hot food, sweet stall, face painting and more!

You’ll just need to pre-book your trail beforehand, pick it up when you arrive and HOP off to become an Easter Bunny Detective! Click here to pre-book.

While wandering around the city centre, you may indeed get hungry. It’s worth investing in a tastecard as they have lots of Cardiff restaurant deals. tastecard offers incredible dining, attraction, and cinema discounts making it the perfect companion this Easter break.

Also in Cardiff City Centre is the Dino Discover Trail.

This is a free BrickLive dinosaur trail. Coming St David’s Centre this Easter from the 3rd to the 16th of April. Built from over half a million bricks, there will be 15 dinosaurs to discover.

Colliers Adventure Farm
Colliers Adventure Farm is a family-friendly, all-weather adventure farm for children of all ages. Based in Treharris, they opened just a few days ago. Booking is essential as it is sure to be a popular visit this Easter.

In their barn, you’ll find alpacas, sheep, shetland ponies, chickens, rabbits, donkeys, pigs, guinea pigs, goats, calves, lambs and chicks. In addition, there are plenty of play areas for children plus a cafe filled with freshly cooked food, snacks and drinks.

National Lido of Wales
Finally, a visit to the National Lido of Wales is always a must. The pool is currently heated to a cosy 28 degrees plus kids go free! Additional activities such as the inflatables are at an extra cost of £2.50.

I love the Lido. Not only does it have the pool, there is also a lovely park right next door, a cafe and it’s just a short walk into Pontypridd town centre. A visit to the market is always popular with my children. There’s a lovely book stall inside where you can pick up a great selection of children’s books from just 25p!
