The best family friendly Easter films

Easter is one of my favourite times of year! I love how excited the children get in anticipation of the Easter bunny paying them a visit and leaving them some treats, mainly of the chocolate variety! It seems that Easter is an acceptable time to allow our children to eat more chocolate than normal, and why not! It means we, as parents, can join in too! I thought I would put together a post of some of the best family friendly Easter films that you and your children can enjoy together over the Easter weekend. In light of us being a film loving family, I thought I’d mention that Panasonic have launched their next generation 4K Ultra HD TV which would be perfect for viewing these Easter films together. In particular I’m rather fond of the Viera 4K TV!

Before I share some of our favourite Easter films with you, I thought I’d share some information with you about Easter. Did you know that the Easter bunny is actually a folkloric figure and symbol of Easter, depicted as as a rabbit bringing Easter eggs. According to Wikipedia the Easter bunny originates among German Lutherans, the “Easter Hare” originally played the role of a judge, evaluating whether children were good or disobedience in behaviour at the start of the season of Eastertide. In legend, the creature carries coloured eggs in his basket, candy and sometimes also toys to the homes of children, and as such shows similarities to Santa Clause or the Christkind, as they both bring gifts to children on the night before their respective holidays.

Anyway, moving on here are some of the best family friendly Easter films that you and your family can enjoy together this Easter:

Hop


The 2011film, Hop, tells the comic story of Fred, an out-of-work slacker who accidentally injures the Easter bunny and must therefore take him in as he recovers. As Fred struggles with the world’s worst house guest, both he and Hop will learn what it takes to finally grow up.

The Good Dinosaur


Although this film doesn’t have an Easter theme to it, I still think it’s a great family film to enjoy this Easter weekend because it’s a good-hearted story that follows a pretty cute dinosaur called Arlo, as he tried desperately to find his way back home after being swept away. On his journey he meets Spot, a messy haired, cave boy, who at first appears a bit mischievous, but in truth is a kind, tough little boy.

It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown


Who doesn’t love Charlie Brown! What better time to bring back this classic character and introduce him to your kids than Easter time! Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang are all getting ready for Easter in their own ways. Sally wants new shoes, Peppermint Patty tries to teach Marcy how to colour eggs and Snoppy wants to do a good deed for Woodstock. This classic film will be sure to leave your children wanting to see more Charlie Brown!

Winnie the Pooh: Springtime with Roo


It’s funny how some characters stand the test of time isn’t it. Winnie the Pooh has been around forever and yet he’s still as much loved today as was when he made his first appearance on TV.

This 2004 film is a very loose adaptation of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol. An overexcited Roo, along with Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore, pay Rabbit a visit to celebrate Easter, but instead of finding an Easter party they find a Spring Cleaning Day celebration!
