Are you an over-sharent?

A few weeks ago my husband and I attended parents evening at our girls school. On the way out, my husband picked up a copy of a magazine called ‘Digital Parenting‘. Having never heard of this publication before, I was curious to see what it was all about. As it happens, it’s pretty much summed up by its name! The magazine covers a range of topics from cyber-bullying, fake news and screen time. One article I came across is called ‘Are you an over-sharent?’ I instantly felt a slight pang of guilt. I mean I have been known to share… [Read More]

Should you really teach your children to share?

Most people would probably agree if I said that you should teach your children to share, but what if I told you that I don’t believe this to be true?  I think it depends entirely on the circumstances and on what the particular item is that ‘needs’ to be shared. I remember being told by someone once when I advised them that one of my daughters didn’t want to share something that, ‘I would have to teach her to share because she’d need to do this when she starts school’. Perhaps so, but again I think it’s dependent on the… [Read More]

To read B’s last post, please click here. Match maker match maker find me a match. So my last post ended with us waiting to be matched. I received a phone call from the clinic to tell me they were sending my details to a possible recipient that day and I just had to wait for them to get back and ok me. I waited a few days and I received another phone call. This time from my egg share nurse asking me about my current job role, my education and my qualifications. I won’t lie, I found this quite hurtful…. [Read More]

B's Egg Sharing IVF Journey. Part 4

Following on from B’s last post (which can be read here), B continues to share her journey with us.  Waiting, waiting and a little more waiting. Well, I haven’t blogged for a while, we left off with our GP saying they could not do our screening bloods. This would have cost us £500 at the clinic we were at, which we just couldn’t afford with a wedding to pay for. So I looked for other clinics and called to ask if they charged for screening bloods for donors, one of them didn’t, just for the AMH test which would have… [Read More]

How to encourage sharing

There was a time a few months ago when I wondered at what age our girls would start to notice and more importantly interact with each other. Well, that time has come but instead of playing nicely together it appears that it is much more fun to take things off each other. It doesn’t matter if it’s a toy, food or even a piece of cardboard they always seem to want what the other has! We do have moments where they do interact with each other. For example the other day the girls were sat in front of each other… [Read More]

Following on from last weeks post, B is back to share with us her egg sharing IVF journey. To read last weeks post, please click here. Well, today has been a pretty bad day. It started when I laddered my favourite tights whilst putting them on to get dressed. I am fighting back the tears writing this, I have had a UTI for the past few days, so this morning I made a doctor’s appointment and thought I might as well ask about them doing my screening blood tests for egg sharing. I explained to our GP that we had… [Read More]

B’s Egg Sharing IVF Journey. Part 2. AMH Results.

Following on from last weeks post, B is back to share with us her Egg Sharing IVF Journey. To read her first post, click here. So,  Monday came and I was waiting for the clinic to call me with my results. Being impatient, I decided to call them instead. The line rang through and the receptionist answered and I asked if she could check if my results for my AMH were back yet. She went away to find out, the line went quiet and I was stood there repeating over to myself in my head, “please be good, please be good”.  She came back on… [Read More]
