A Day in the Life of a Twin Mum

It’s been quite a while since I wrote my last ‘A day in the life of a twin mum’ post. Nine months to be exact. I really enjoy writing these posts because I love looking back and seeing how things have changed. Our twins, R and M, are two and a half now. They’re both chatty, funny and playing together more and more. It’s great to see them chasing each other, tickling each other and talking to each other! They fight and argue over toys too, but most of the time they play nicely together. Not much has changed since… [Read More]

We're all going on a summer holiday!

Oh my god! Yes, it is true! We are all going on holiday!  Twin Daddy, our twins, Twin Daddy’s 3 children and Twin Daddy’s mum, who has very generously paid for everything.  I’m excited but also nervous. Twin Daddy and I did book a holiday last year to Haven, but we ended up cancelling it because the twins were teething really bad and just weren’t settled. Well, that is what we keep telling ourselves, but I also think Twin Daddy and I were a little (ok a lot!) nervous of going on holiday with the twins.  At 16 months of… [Read More]

Can a routine be flexible?

I have blogged previously (click here to read post) about routine and whether you should live your life around your babies routine or whether your baby should just fit into your every day life. For the past few months Twin Daddy and I have definitely allowed the girls to dictate our lives. By that I mean we arrange our days and the times we go out to fit around nap times and when the girls eat. For example, when the girls were having two naps a day we would wait until after the second nap of the day to go… [Read More]

A Day in the Life of a Twin Mum (2)

Just over a month ago I wrote a post, ‘A Day in the Life of a Twin Mum‘. Looking back at this post I was quite amazed by how much things have changed since then.  The girls are now one week short of being 8 months old and I thought I would write another post along the same lines, so you can also see how much things have changed in a month.  The main things I have noticed is that: * The girls now go to bed earlier * They have less bottles * They have more naps but for… [Read More]

Weaning Twins Day 9. Introducing Vegetables

Weaning has been going well. Here is a rough idea of our morning routine: 5/6am – Bottle 6-8/8.30am – Nap time 9/9.30am – Bottle 9.30am-10am – Nap time 10am – Baby rice or porridge Both girls seem to really love Heinz Creamy Oat Porridge. I did have a taste myself and it is delicious!  Today we will be introducing some vegetables to the girls following their afternoon feed, which is usually anytime between 3 and 4pm. We would look to give them some veg about an hour after their milk feed. In preparation for this, Twin Daddy, made some vegetable puree. Broccoli, carrots,… [Read More]

Weaning Twins Day 6

Weaning is going well. I have found by trial and error that the best time to give our girls some food is about an hour after their milk feed. At the moment we are sticking to baby rice.  I must mention in this post, that Twin Daddy is fantastic! I know I’m biased but he really is fantastic! In the early days when we brought our girls home from hospital at 4 weeks old, they used to feed every 3 hours round the clock. I often wondered to myself how we would cut out the 2.30am feed. Somehow we did…. [Read More]

Weaning Twins Day 3 (Feat Dr Brown Bottles)

So here is how today has been so far: ‘M’ has been on double dose gaviscon since yesterday and her poop has gone really hard, dark and is coming out in tiny balls. It appears that she is getting constipated, so I’m unsure whether or not to continue with the gaviscon double dose or go back to single doses. Anyway, back to weaning: 08.30am Gave ‘R’ her bottle (125ml) 08.40am Gave ‘R’ some baby rice which went down quite well 08.50am ‘R’ has a nap 09.05am ‘M’ sat on my lap happily and took 25ml then started refusing her bottle… [Read More]
