If you’d told me two years ago that I’d run a half marathon, and get a place for London Marathon, I would have laughed! I’ve always toyed with the idea of running, but just thought I couldn’t. In school I did cross country, and ran 5,000 metres at sports day, but when I left school, running kind of faded away. On the odd occasion, I’d feel inspired to run, but the novelty soon wore off. However, in 2017 I was inspired by a fellow blogger. I loved watching her running journey on Facebook and was slightly envious of her achievements…. [Read More]
Last year I completed the Cardiff Half Marathon for the first time. Despite being injured during training, I recovered pretty well and completed it in 2 hours 29 minutes and 3 seconds. My original target was 2 hours 15 minutes, but after injury, I changed my target to 2 hours 30 minutes, and I was very pleased to have achieved that. I decided to take part in the Cardiff Half Marathon again this year in the hopes of getting a better time. Unfortunately during training, I was injured again. This year my injury was worse than last year. As such… [Read More]
I haven’t been able to run properly for around 5 to 6 weeks now. Unfortunately a few weeks back, I injured my leg and have been trying to my best (despite the odd ‘test’ run) to rest. Being injured is very frustrating, even more so when you’re training for an event. On October 7th, I’ll be running the Cardiff Half Marathon. I did it last year for the first time, and completed it in 2 hours 29 minutes and 3 seconds. I even got injured in training last year as well! This year, my goal is to complete the Cardiff… [Read More]
Oh the frustration of being a runner, or any sportswoman or man for that matter, is when you’re injured. This is made even more frustrating when everywhere you go, everyone appears to be doing the sport you’re currently unable to do! In my case, running! Whilst training for my first half marathon last year I tore the adductor muscle in my right leg, and ever since then I seem to be injury prone! I ran a 10k earlier this year whilst injured, and ended up having to rest for 3-4 weeks, and now can you believe it, I’m on the… [Read More]
It dawned on me a few weeks ago that I’ve been so focused on fundraising for the London Marathon 2019 for my charity, WellChild, that I haven’t actually written an update on how my training is going. Whilst I written plenty of posts about how fundraising going, read my latest post here, I thought I’d write about my training. It may seem a little early to some to start training now, but my training is actually twofold. You see I’m also running the Cardiff Half Marathon in October 2018 for Cancer Research UK, so my training plan has started now… [Read More]
I can’t believe I’m actually writing these words, let alone saying them out loud! On Sunday, October 1st 2017, I completed my first half marathon! When I first started taking running seriously, I never would have imagined that I could ever complete a half marathon. My goal was to just to be able to run 5k without stopping. When I reached my 5k goal, I set a new goal to run 10k without stopping. When I achieved that, and after taking part in a few 10k races, I knew it was time to set a new goal. To run a… [Read More]
With half term almost upon us, parents are getting panicky about what to do during the break. I’m sure we’d all love to just stay home, build blanket dens and eat pizza all week, but unfortunately, employers aren’t so liberal when it comes to doling out week-long holidays. So what to do with the kids? It’s important to find them something that will keep them busy, but not anything so nonsensical that it will deter them from the inevitable stack of homework (or destroy the house!). As a compromise, I’ve thought up a list of fun and educational activities to… [Read More]
