We all love a bit of celebrity gossip. So much so that we’ll actually invest in it by buying magazines with enticing titles that lure us into the world of snooping.
I think us Brits are a fairly nosey nation. Who doesn’t want to know about their neighbours money problems or why next doors son was seen sneaking out of the house at 1am?
We’re also a nation of two-facedness – is that even a word? I’m not sure, but it’s the one I’m going to use! As I said above, we love a bit of celebrity gossip. In fact we see nothing wrong with reading all about the lives of the A-listers, and even the Z-listers!
However, when something happens closer to home, I think it’s fair to say the majority of us would more than likely frown upon this. Yet, us bloggers share our lives with the world, and those closest to us.
Family, friends, friends of friends, acquaintances, school gate parents, even the woman from the local shop reads my blog, but when I find out that someone from someone’s past is reading someone’s blog every day, I find that pretty humorous!
I’m not one to name names and you may wonder how I know about this. Gossip. Everyone loves a good gossip and quite often those people from our pasts can’t resist a nose to find out what’s going on in our lives now.
I find it pretty amusing that ‘said person’ apparently reads ‘said bloggers’ posts on a daily basis and then boasts about it and how they know what’s going on in the bloggers life, as though the blogger themselves knows nothing of their apparent ‘snooping’.
Of course, it’s all pretty harmless, but it does make me wonder why someone would go to the extremes of reading someone’s blog every day just so that they can find out even the smallest of detail about that person’s life?
Social media is also another great example of snooping. Who hasn’t looked up friends from school or other people from their past in a bid to find out what their lives are like now? Social media makes it so easy to do. You just type in a name and go from there. You can even search by email or telephone number.

Dangerous! But funny! I wouldn’t class myself as a snooper, but you are right, we all get sucked in now and again. Great post.

I can’t stand celebrity gossip and think its terrible that anybody with any degree of fame needs to put up with such insane intrusiveness. That said, I do check my ex’s profile from time to time to see how her daughter and granddaughter are getting on. I think if its looking at stuff that they voluntarily put out there, its different

Haha, I can be quite nosey, I sometimes snoop but not enough to know the ins/outs of someone’s whole life – but I do like to know what’s going on with people lol. When I announced my pregnancy all that time ago, I had about 15 people ‘add’ me on Facebook – clearly just trying to be nosey! I think we’re all guilty of snooping a little :p x

Oh of course I’ve snooped! My quite to the extreme you’ve seen but I have looked up old classmates/workmates to see what they’re up to. Not sure if that’s snooping or being nostalgic really!
