Sands Alive Review

The classic set includes a plastic tray which helps to keep the sand contained, sand and some colourful moulds in different shapes.

The animal set also includes a blue plastic tray which is slightly bigger than the one included in the classic set, sand, a paw print roller and some animal moulds.

Whilst our girls were eating their tea I set up the sets for them and couldn’t resist having a go myself! The sand is really soft and has a lovely texture to it.

Unlike the sand that you get on a beach, this modelling sand isn’t grainy and it doesn’t stick to your hands. It’s actually quite fluffy!

It can be moulded into various shapes by hand or by using the moulds. I gave the monkey mould a go to see how easy it was and how well it would hold together.

I squished the sand into each of the moulds and then pressed them together. I was worried that the whole thing would fall apart when I prized the moulds apart, but the monkey held firm!

I decided to give the yellow sphere a go next! It was just as easy as the monkey mould and again, held together well.

Now it was the turn of our girls! They absolutely loved it!

It was quite fascinating watching them both playing with the sand. M seemed to enjoy more of a free play technique and would happily just use her hands to squish and squash the sand. She liked making the sand ‘snow’ by sprinkling it from a height!

R enjoyed playing with the moulds and made pretty much all of the moulds. She did it really easily and didn’t have any problems making any of them.
