As part of the Rubik’s Junior Blogger Club, we were recently sent a 2×2 Rubik’s cube to review. We also have one to give away to one lucky reader, but before then I wanted to talk to you about Rubik’s!
Back in October I shared a review with you about the Rubik’s Collectable Pet Puzzles. These are perfect for children. Our twin girls, who are almost six years old, absolutely love them! They’re very simple to solve, but do require some thinking. They really are perfect for children.
In addition to the collectible pet puzzles, we do have a standard size Rubik’s cube, however our girls find it very hard to solve! So when I was sent this 2×2 Rubik’s cube, I was pretty excited to share it with our girls and get their verdict.
Unlike the traditional Rubik’s cube, there are no colour stickers. These have been replaced with plastic. I think this is a lot better because it means the colours won’t fade or peel.
Now, although this Rubik’s cube is small, and at first glance you many be forgiven for thinking that it looks easy, but don’t be fooled!
There are 3,764,160 combinations!
This 2×2 Rubik’s cube (also known as the pocket or mini cube) has 8 corner rubies and operates in much the same way as it’s bigger brother – the Rubik’s Cube. It has a brand new mechanism that results in a smoother, faster and more reliable Rubik’s Cube.
For me Rubik’s cubes are kind of like a stress reliever! I love moving the cubes around and this smaller Rubik’s cube is perfect to carry around in your pocket or handbag. It also makes a great present for younger puzzle enthusiasts who, like our girls, may not be quite ready for the larger Rubik’s cube. You find this 2×2 Rubik’s cube online for £6.99 here.
Overall, I think this is a great little Rubik’s cube that’s fun for all ages!
