Review: Losing weight with SoShape #ad

March 6, 2018

With every new year, comes the inevitable influx of people stating that they’re going to lose weight, be more active or start a new career.

That’s exactly how 2017 started for me.

Weighing 11st8, I felt uncomfortable, and more importantly I wasn’t happy. I always wore baggy tops and my jeans often felt tight around my tummy. I knew I had to do something.

I had to make a change. I wanted to be a good role model to my children. I started running, and even completed my first half marathon!

By the end of 2017 I’d lost two stone and weighed 9st8. An amazing achievement, that I’m very proud of.

After Christmas 2017, and with new years eve and my birthday I did put on some weight. Not much, but enough to make me feel as though I wanted to get back to 9st8.

That’s when I discovered SoShape.

SoShape is a French company, but they do ship to the UK and some other countries.

SoShape is a diet that offers three different types of challenges.

  • 5 day Reboot Challenge – Discover the smart meal flavours and bounce back from a binge
  • 14 day Remove Challenge – Lose excess fat. Get back in your jeans!
  • 28 day Reborn Challenge – Transform! Get some serious long lasting results

I was challenged to complete their 14 day Remove Challenge. This challenge is perfect for people like me who want to lose a few pounds and fit back into their jeans.

The 14 day remove challenge is made up of 30 smart meals. Smart meals are the equivalent of a balanced meal, without overdoing it on the calories! They have some immediate effects such as an energy boost caused by the vitamins included in them which help to reduce tiredness. They also help to tone up your muscles because of the 20g of protein in every smart meal.

Smart meals consist of shakes, pasta dishes, risotto and soups. I opted for the shakes as I’m very used to a shake based diet.

How does it work?

The idea behind the challenge is to have one smart meal in the morning. This could be a hot or cold drink to give you all the necessary nutrients to start the day.

This is then followed by a totally free lunch such as turkey breast, white fish, chicken breast, tuna in brine or egg whites etc, with vegetables or salad..

You then end the day with a smart meal in the evening such as one of the hot soups, pasta or risotto dishes.

It’s important to note that no fruits are allowed during the challenge. Although natural and healthy, they contain a bit too much sugar to be unlimitedly consumed alongside the smart meals.

When I received my SoShape parcel, I found my 30 smart meals, along with some leaflets and a guide to help me get started with the 14 day remove challenge. I also received a SoShape bottle which can be used for your shakes, but also as a fruit infuser bottle to keep you hydrated throughout the day.

There are lots of different flavours available that can be enjoyed hot or cold. These include:

To eat frozen: Raspberry frappe, mint-chocolate ice cream and lemon cheesecake.

To eat chilled with very cold water: Cappuccino, chocolate, cookies & cream, speculoos, vanilla and white chocolate, stracciatella.

You can also drink the following flavours hot by heating them up in a microwave: cookies and cream, chocolate, cappuccino, mixed vegetable soup, tomato veloute.

Then there are the ones you can enjoy hot: Indian curry, spicy bolo, mushroom risotto.

The Challenge

Starting weight: 9st13

Preparing the shakes is really quick, easy and convenient. Simply fill up the bottle with 350ml of very cold water and then empty one sachet in, and shake. I like to use a whisk to make sure there are no lumps. Then simply enjoy!

For the first few days I was hungry, but I think with any new diet, that’s to be expected whilst you get used to it. I’m used to having shakes with milk, so the change to water instead of milk took a bit of getting used to.

That being said, by day 5, I was used to the shakes and found that they filled me up. If I did feel the need for a snack in between, I’d graze on some turkey or chicken in moderation.

My favourite flavour is vanilla and white chocolate, closely followed by cookies & cream. The cookies & cream shake actually has pieces of cookie in which is a real treat!

I love the little sachet that the shakes come in. They’re easy to pop in your handbag to bring to work with you, and very convenient and easy to make whilst on the go. I also really like the positive, motivational phrases on each pack.

Results

After following the 14 day remove challenge, I’ve lost five pounds, and am now 9st8, which I’m very happy about!

The main thing for me is although I’ve lost 5 pounds, I’ve actually managed to drop a dress size. Even though last year I started the year weighing 11st8, I was a size 12. After loosing 2 stone and going down to 9st8, I was still a size 12.

However, the SoShape 14 day remove plan has not only seen me lose 5 pounds, it’s also seen me go down a dress size to a size 10! You can see the delight in my face in the picture below as these size 10 pair of jeans fit!

Overview

Would I recommend SoShape?

Yes, absolutely!

The challenge is easy to follow, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy. If you’re not used to a shake based diet, it will take you a while to get used to it. You’ll probably feel hungrier than normal for the first few days to a week whilst you get used to it, but once you’re used to it, and you stick to it, it really does work!

You can also visit the SoShape social media channels for recipe ideas and to see how others are getting on.

I don’t really need to lose weight. My issue is to maintain my current weight. But with all the baking I have been doing, it will be a big challenge for me. I would want to try a shake based diet too. I like the idea of long-lasting results. I will try the So Shape shakes. Thanks for letting me know about them.

Weight loss can be hard to do, and this looks great. One of these years I should start trying myself.
Shakes can give you everything you need. They are something I am also showing my oldest daughter as she works to a healthier her.

Glad it worked for you, but I will say I’m not a massive fan of shake based diets, and diets that cut out so much flavour. But then I’m on a high fat diet, which I bloody love! But we’re all different and no one diet suits everyone. #ThatFridayLinky

I’ve never been one for the shakes type diets, but this one sounds good! 😉
I’ve got a few more than 5lbs to lose though – more like 25!!
