Four whole years have passed by since I started running. I can hardly believe it’s been that long. In that time I’ve achieved so much. When I first started running I couldn’t run 1k without having to stop. Since then I’ve run the Cardiff Half Marathon twice and even completed the London Marathon in 2019.
I’m a firm believer that you can do anything you put your mind to. If you believe you can do it and you have the motivation and right gear to do it, then anything is possible.
Over the years I’ve learnt how important the right clothing is for your chosen sport. When I first started running, I did so in a cheap pair of trainers, thick fleecy tracksuit bottoms and a baggy t-shirt. I didn’t even own a sports bra! Shock horror, I know!
My trainers rubbed and gave me pins and needles every time I ran. Now I’m no expert but that can’t be a good thing!
Four years into my journey and I now know the importance of a good pair of supportive trainers. In addition, wearing the right clothes for the weather is also important.
Although I must admit I tend to wear a vest all year round as I just get too hot in anything else!
It’s also important, as I have sadly learnt from experience, that your clothes fit properly. Badly fitting clothes can cause chaffing and that is not going to be comfortable when you’re running.

Dare2b let me choose some running clothes from their website to review.
Kate Ferdinand Result Overhead Hooded Sweater
First up I chose this Result Overhead Hooded Sweater in black. This is just £20 and is available in sizes 6 to 18.
It’s from the Kate Ferdinand Edit and the reason I love this hoody is because of how lightweight it is. As mentioned above, I get very hot when running so something thin and lightweight is a must for me.
This hoody is perfect for running, yoga, pilates, dance and stretching. When I start running, I always start off wearing a long sleeve layer until I’m warmed up and this hoody is perfect for that.
Women’s Circumspect Lightweight Detachable Sleeve Windshell Jacket Black Meteor Grey
Next up is this lightweight windshield jacket. It’s currently priced at £20.95. I tend to wear a jacket like this when the weather is very windy.
It’s ultra-light weight, water-repellent and breathable. It also has removable sleeves and has a mesh back panel for airflow.
This jacket would be perfect for a long training run in particularly windy weather. It has elastic cuffs with thumb loops, a zipped rear pocket to secure keys and snacks, plus reflective details for low light running.
The Kate Ferdinand Edit – Influential Leggings Black Molecular Print
These leggings are so comfortable. Plus they’re just £20! They feel amazing and are super smooth! They keep you cool, lift your sweat and flatter your shape which makes them perfect for running in or just working out in at home or in the gym.
They’re also squat proof. Yes, I asked my husband to stand behind me while I did some squats to check and I can confirm they passed with flying colours! There’s also a hidden pocket perfect for keeping your keys safe.
The Kate Ferdinand Edit – Ardency Printed Vest Black Molecular Print
The final item I chose was also from the Kate Ferdinand Edit and it’s the Ardency Printed Vest in Black with the Molecular Print just like the leggings. The vest is pictured above and also below.
It’s just £10 which is an absolute bargain. I wore it on a very wet run recently (photo below) and it was very comfortable.
I like the racerback design with airflow mesh as it helps to keep you cool which is something I definitely need when running!
It’s made from lightweight Q-Wic polyester knit fabric which helps to pull sweat away from your skin. I also really like that it has anti-bacterial odour control built in. I know from experience just how whiffy running clothes can get, even after they’ve been washed as the smell can linger so this is a definite bonus for me.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’m very happy with all of the items I was sent. They’re all great quality, super comfortable and perfect for running. I’d highly recommend Dare2b.
