Retro Interior Trends that have made a big Comeback

Ring ring, the past is calling, they want their furniture back…literally.

Ever heard of the saying ‘Out with the old, in with the new’? Well now we couldn’t be more in with the old!

In recent years, older styles have come back to shape the trends of today and we’re loving it! From vintage vibes to shabby chic and retro upholstery, trying to find your picture perfect interior doesn’t have to be a difficult task and it certainly doesn’t have to break the bank!

Whether you choose to reupholster, buy brand new furniture, visit a car boot sale or even pinch a few items from your grandparents, you’re sure to find the right piece for your home. So, what will be your interior comeback?

Wallpaper 

Ahh the ease of being able to put up a sheet of paper on the wall rather than having to repaint it each time you fancy a change.. It makes us ask the question, why did we ever get rid of wallpaper? Well, the simple fact, it became unfashionable, however, now it’s creeping back. We’re not necessarily saying all fours walls should be covered, but why not add a feature wall to really tie the room together.

Leather

Another style which has recently made a reappearance is leather furniture, mainly leather sofas. They didn’t go away for long but they are back, you may even still have an old one which you have been meaning to throw out, well don’t! Brass  

OK, we don’t mean brass everything, but just as a subtle touch. The handles of drawers, door knobs, taps, you could get brass appliances such as kettles or toasters for your kitchen or even a lamp for your bedroom, living room or hallway! These simple yet effective ideas really bring a warm feel to your home décor. Plus, you don’t need to worry about having to continually shine the brass, the older it gets, the more rustic it looks resulting in more of a vintage vibe.

Stained glass

The 1930s fad of stain glass windows has become fairly popular again in the windows of front doors. This little, detailed touch adds class and character to the home before you even enter. It lets a range of light and colour into the hallway area which helps to brighten up your home. The stain glass also helps to block the view for people looking in whilst still allowing light to pour through, introducing more privacy for your home.

Patterned carpet  

In a similar way to the to the wallpaper, patterned carpets became out of fashion and again, we aren’t saying go all out and carpet every room in the house with a bright random pattern. However, often, having a simple pattern on your carpet which maybe runs through the hallway, can keep it central and create that ‘cherry on the top’ finish to your home.
