How to find the perfect present for everyone

December 21, 2017

Christmas may be the most wonderful time of the year, until it comes to gift shopping.

Friends, parents, in-laws, does the list ever stop? You can ask them what they want and if you’re lucky you may even get an exact answer, but that takes all the romance out of gift giving! Alternatively there’s the “Oh, I don’t need anything” answer, that we all know isn’t true.

Here you’ll find how to nail the Christmas shopping and find the perfect gift for everyone, even dad.

  1. Listen up & pay attention

Write the names of your gift receivers onto a notepad. If you keep your eyes and ears open you’ll notice people tend to drop into conservation things they love or would like to have.

Maybe you’re shopping and they point out something they’d love, take advantage and jot it down! The trick is to be quick at taking notes, or you’ll forget all this valuable information.

  1. Write a list (check it twice!)

Make a list for each person and write down their interests, hobbies, favourite TV shows and films, favourite music etc. Do some research and find out what the wonderful world wide web has to offer – you may be surprised!

Maybe you find merchandise from their favourite band’s tour last year which they never got their hands on or a first edition of their favourite book!

  1. Make it an experience

So your partner loves Planet Earth, but how much would they love an actual animal encounter somewhere like Knowsley Safari? Make their dream come true and give them the chance to get up close and personal to their favourite animals.

Maybe your partner as always dreamt of skydiving but is too scared to do the whole jumping out of a plane thing? Why not take them indoor skydiving, it’ll be an unforgettable day and will allow them tick something off the bucket list!

  1. DIY

Often, a sentimental DIY gift beats all, something they can keep forever. A scrapbook made by you is a great idea, it shows you’ve put in a lot of effort and is a good excuse to get the old, embarrassing photos out!

An alternative DIY gift idea is a homemade hamper, purchase a wicker basket and fill it with all their favourite treats! A bottle of their favourite wine, chocolate, biscuits, crisps etc.

  1. Club together

If you can’t think of something within your budget, why not club together with other friends or family and buy something they really want, how about that £200 coat they dreamt of wearing or those £100 shoes they spotted the other day.

Why not club together to give them a relaxing, well-deserved spa weekend at that big posh hotel in town, a bit of me time never goes a miss!

  1. Get baking!

OK, we’re not suggesting you stray away from the classic selection boxes…well, actually, we are – but hear us out! Why not put your own twist on a selection boxes, bake christmas cupcakes, cookies, brownies, fudge – get creative, you’ll never look back!
